Here we are only two weeks out from a decisive election, and bushco and his policies are coming apart at the seams. Iraq is now acknowledged to be a disaster by even Tony Blair, not to mention the neo-cons who thought up the disaster and pushed it on this country. Bush is a laughing stock on the world stage, rebuffed by the sane world.
The fact that bush is failing and flailing so desperately points out two things: 1) that we would have never, ever have reached this point if the R-controlled Congress had done even a pubic-hair's worth of oversight during this war. They are totally complicit in this disaster. This is a Republic-RW-neo con disaster that will harm this country for DECADES to come, and, 2) had the Rs somehow retained the Congress in 2006, we would still be hearing the lies and spin that these criminals have been spouting for the last three years, only their claims would have been even more outrageous and fantasy based than were their past claims.
Thank Thor that the Ds are now in charge and that investigations and real oversight are starting. But before we get too giddy about it, let's realize that even if a miracle occurred and the Iraq debacle righted itself this very day, that we (the USA) will be hated and attacked for decades as retribution for the evil that bush has visited upon the world.
While I know it's not popular in some circles, I'm coming to believe that it is imperative that we (the people of the USA) push for impeachment, trial, conviction and incarceration of bushco if for no other reason than to show the world that we as a people are cutting out the cancer from our body politic. We need to get right with ourselves before we can get right with the world. A ton of reason and more than a few tons of humility would go a long way to getting us back to moral ground zero.
May the world forgive us, as a people, and as a country.
