2. How do you know?
What are you hearing? "All circuits are busy", or a fast busy signal, or "your call could not go through as dialed", or dead air, or what?

5. Okay,
so apparently nothing is broken, that's good. It's just that all of the circuits are being used. DO NOT call just to see. If you are really sincerely trying to get through, just keep trying occasionally. Let's NOT cause a breakdown of the phone system. I'm not being sarcastic, there's no "wink wink", we do NOT want to damage anything. They'd just use that against us.

Presumably, if all circuits are busy, someone is getting through. (Otherwise, who's using all of those busy circuits?) But I'm certainly no phone system expert so it may be that everyone dialing at once is locking things up and no one is getting through. I hope that's not the case. If the faxes are on a different exchange then hopefully they'll get through, unless that exchange gets jammed up also. :( How about telegrams? Anyone know how much they cost?

6. Or what if they left the line off the hook?
Can they do that or is that just with phones?
