Nervous anticipation.

I'm old enough to remember a time when a republican congress was a wierd idea. The democrats had controlled it for so long it seemed that it would never change. But as with any political dynamic, power is the intoxicant that skews judgment. Many democrats ended up feeding at the trough and forgot what their responsibilities were. Of course, it should be mentioned that when democrats go bad they steal money from the petty cash jar, when republicans go bad they rob fort Knox.

With this fresh chance to do good, I would like to see democrats enact major ethics reforms. I would like to make sure that any chance of a rep going bad is cut off quickly. This victory is a blessing. I vote for democrats because I think they are better people in general. I would be terribly disappointed if the democrats lose sight of their mission. One factor that works in our favor is that the Speaker is a lady. Women, imo, are much better prepared to be leaders and make harder decisions with a moral compass. I believe Speaker Pelosi will do great things.

I guess the bottom line is that I am a little worried, but I have seen what our leaders have done over the past 6 years - Conyers, Waxman, Dingell, and many others - and I feel like we have a great opportunity to make things right again.

Nervous anticipation.

1. as a semi-regular CSPAN viewer, I am not worried about this
I have seen thousands of speeches in the past few years by Democrats that make total sense and yet they are always defeated in votes by Repukes. I have full confidence that they will do the right thing and Govern correctly.

2. Its a lot easier to say the right thing
when you have no power. When you attain a position of power is when it becomes more difficult to DO the right thing.
