Calling All DU'ers: A Proposal Of Which I Ask For Your Committal.
Edited on Sat Nov-04-06 12:23 AM by OPERATIONMINDCRIME
I'm so full of anticipation as to what is going to occur on this coming Tuesday. I'm excited, apprehensive, hopeful, yet cautious. But I know Tuesday will come and go and with that brings Wednesday. And on that fateful Wednesday, if we are fortunate enough to wake up with the biggest smiles on our faces we've ever known and have recaptured one or both houses of Congress, I ask of you to pay DU homage. I know for certain in my heart that our beloved website has played a role in all of this. It has given inspiration, motivation, education and strength to fight to many who may not have had those things otherwise. I know there are many reasons that can be said as to why victory may have occurred, if it is to occur, but I also know that DU is one of them.

So having that said; come Wednesday morning, if what is to be will be, I'm going to want to do something that I told myself I'd do if I woke up to victory. What I'm going to do is donate to DU, as they deserve it. I want to put forth this proposal to all of you. Which of you will commit to donating 10, 20, or however many dollars to DU if we are to wake up on Wednesday having won back one or both Houses of Congress? Will you make that pledge? If so, please post that pledge here.

This isn't a kiss-ass to the admins thread or request. It is instead a sign of respect for this website and it's power. If we are to emerge victorious I think it would be a great thing to reward the Admins of this site. Without them, and without the plethora of informative truth DU provides, I'm not sure we'd be in the same position we're in.

So that's my pledge: If come Wednesday we emerge victorious, I will be donating to this site as a declaration of "Wooooohoooooooo!!!!!!! We FUCKING DID IT!!!!!!". I want to sincerely ask any of you to pledge to do the same. I think it would be a really cool thing to do.

Peace, and here's to hoping we are all a few dollars poorer come Thursday. :toast:

1. Count me in, it might only be $10 or $25 bucks, financially things are
really tight right now, but I do treasure DU. It's kept me sane since January, 2004.

3. No donate it now.

It shouldn't be conditional on victory. People should, if they want, donate now to thank DU for everything to get us to this battle. They should also give encouragement for the grueling task of managing this place around election day, cycling through all of the "Levels" to keep it all running. Donate now.

4. Deal- but if it goes the other way which will be due to rigged machines
and other voting atrocities, I'd like a promise that every person at DU DEMAND that not one, single candidate- NO ONE CONCEDES BEFORE EVERY VOTE IS COUNTED. I'm talking flood the phones, flood the Fax machines, barrage their in-boxes, storm their offices- whatever it takes- DEMAND NO CONCESSIONS and no one is to be sworn in until every vote has been counted. Period. We need to be relentless because we all know that if it does suddenly flip in the other direction causing a massive (or even not so massive given where the poll numbers are now) switch to the right-- then they rigged the system. And when and if that doesn't work-- and I truly mean this-- we need to take to the streets in droves to defend what is left of our democracy.

DEAL?????

5. Hear Hear To That.
Sure you won't find it too much trouble to get the commitment from 99.9% of DU'ers for that one. :)

And like you, I am very cautiously optimistic. Been let down too many times to be confident, but boy I've had the biggest shit eating grin on my face all day long.

9. I'm IN!!!
I think this is a GREAT idea, OMC!

DU has kept a lot of us sane these past few weeks. It's been a place to vent our anxieties, encourage each other's efforts, keep abreast of the latest news, and -- most importantly -- share our hopes for the future!

Think of it this way: If you didn't have DU to turn to in the past month, how much would you have had to shell out for a SHRINK!?!

10. I just donated
But in truth it was because I wanted to have an avatar. I don't know anything else about this site except that it seems to move quickly.

Is there a DU version of Freepers who go out and protest? Is there a group in Pinellas? How do I find this out?

11. Sure! There Have Been Many Protest Gatherings.
How do you find out? Just start a thread asking if anyone is around your area :)

You'll also see threads pop up from time to time about coming protests. Tonight, there was one stating that there will be one at the White House all week led by Cindy Sheehan.
