Good lord did you hear that shit? Ed henry and wolfie agree the call for a filibuster is all about Kerry's chances for the Dem. Presidential candidacy in 2008! Damn! I can not believe this shit...
I think I am turning CNN off for good....

9. Frist has countered with calling for a trial vote Monday at 4:30 PM ET.
Edited on Thu Jan-26-06 05:34 PM by Radio_Lady
He probably has enough votes (60 to 70) to cut a filibuster off at the pass.

Depressing....

10. Exactly what I said would happen. Kerry knows they will spin this against
him- hard to believe he is sticking his neck out anyway. Every pundit will be repeating this bullshit just so they can avoid the reasons WHY Alito doesn't belong on the court.

This is a very foolish POLITICAL move for Kerry even though it is the very RIGHT thing to do.

11. Let them SPIN.
DEMOCRATS know how dangerous Alito is and how COURAGEOUS it is for Kerry to stand up and oppose him, KNOWING FULL WELL the backlash he would receive. If you want to watch someone triangulate for 2008, just watch Hillary.

Just try this for one hour. Turn CNN off. Walk away from it. You`ll love your little burst of power.
If you tuned into Ed Henry six months from now, he`d still be spewing the administration`s talking points. He`s not worth the aggravation.

24. When DUers watch CNN it's not the problem
It's Mrs. Murleen D. Crowe in Ames, Iowa, who hears this and says "Oh, I never thought of it that way. Of COURSE Kerry is doing this for himself."

23. Waiting until it didn't have a prayer
made Kerry's gesture more symbolic than a real effort to lead a fillibuster. His motives are anyone's guess.

How does it suddenly have more of a chance now than earlier? WTF? If it has a chance, it's because KERRY has called for it. If he had done it a week ago, magically Byrd would be on board? Your post isn't even logical.

33. Best respose to that talking point
In fact, I'm stealing it from now on whenever some douchebag - left or right - tries to demean Kerry's convictions and courage by accusing him of wanting to run again as if it would be such a horrid thing to have a president who was such a tireless fighter.

31. I don't care why he's doing it
I don't believe it's merely a political stunt, but even if it was I wouldn't give a shit.

At least he's standing up.

And if this is a political stunt, he at least has enough sense of reality to know what Americans really need and want.

37. Ed Henry is right - Kerry is speaking to the dem base!!!
It is no different than bushit telling his base that\
he will appoint judges like Scalia.

And politically, he made a smart move.
But Kerry is also doing this because of what Alito stands for.
