I Just Voted PAPER BALLOT in Collin County, TX (Dallas Suburbs): NO PROBLEM!
Cast my vote in early voting at a library in Plano, TX (North Dallas suburbs). I asked the voting officials if they had paper ballots, and they said "yes," and I'd have to see the man at the end of the table. No dirty looks or bad attitudes! It all went smooth as a baby's behind.

I asked one of the officials if he had seen many people requesting paper ballots. "No, not really - out of about 1500 people so far you're about the fifth one."

This tells me that at least a few people are savvy enough to ask for paper ballots - probably in-the-know DUers I'd guess. The process was no-fuss and took less than ten minutes.

People - ASK FOR PAPER BALLOTS!! Send DIEbold a clear message that you won't put up with their hacking for G.W.Bush and the Republicons. Also somebody mentioned on DU that voting a straight Dem ticket may not be a good idea (forget the reasoning now)...so I went down the list and voted for each Dem independently.

Good luck folks - let's make our votes COUNT!!

1. It was the opposite in my county
because of a total screw-up in the primary, people here don't want to vote on the machines. More are voting on paper. :)

Thanks for voting. Spread the word about demanding a paper ballot!

6. Same thing in Montgomery County
I was told they didnt have any.
One man had a problem with my asking, you could tell he had an attitude. Asked me if I wanted to vote or if I wanted to talk the election judge. I told him I wanted to talk to the judge, did so, and then went back to proceed to vote. He said "oh so now you want to vote?" Told him I always planned to and that I am the election judge in my precinct. That seemed to shut him up.

7. The man with the attitude; while I find that terribly rude on
his part, I'm hoping it was because of people like you being aware enough to ask questions like this. And furthermore, I hope he was grouchy because of the number of Dems voting!

12. How RUDE!
I wonder why I didn't have a problem in Plano (Dallas) and yet some are having trouble in Houston and other areas. I voted at a library - but that shouldn't have made a difference or maybe it did? I'm not sure. Anyhow, it was just one huge sheet of paper and I colored in the circles with a pen. Felt like I was back in High School taking the SAT. But it was far better than taking the chance on Diebold.

14. I had a similar problem in Denton County
I called and reported it. The guy on the other end of the phone seemed very interested. He told me if I hadn't received a phone call back that day, to call the Secretary of State. As it turned out I did get a call back.

5. voted today as well
used machines in Pasco, Fl all Dem votes across the board except for some lowly office that one I voted Rethug - I figured it might throw the machine off. ie: let all of the other important Dem votes go through un-switched.
