O'Lielly on Letterman (DAVE: "How does staying there, killing more Americans, make it right?")

Is this the rerun, being rerun strategically, or did come back to be ripped a new asshole...?

2. It's new.
The NY Post had a story after seeing the taping. Letterman is clearly disgusted with Billo.

Unfortunately, I'm in SE Texas and have to wait until 11:30 as High School football needs a full hour of recap, as if half an hour won't do it justice.

Hope I can stay awake...but somehow I think www.crooksandliars.com might have it tomorrow. :)

15. Dave's face got so red at one point I thought he was going to explode
The interview was a thing of beauty. Hard to believe Dave and Katie Couric work for the same network.

I think I'll add Letterman to my future husbands list.

18. Dave was great.
My favorite part was "It's not easy for me because I'm thoughtful." Every time Bill would try to force Dave into a dichotomy, or throw out a strawman Dave blew it out of the water. He put Billdo on the defensive, which is a place he can't fight from. As soon as he can't hurl unfounded accusations and is made to give real answers he has lost. Dave was brilliant.

22. That question was SO designed to stop all thought dead in its tracks.
I mean, if the question is framed as "But don't you want us to win?," the only possible answer is "Yes." And when the only possible answer is "Yes," then it automatically follows that you want us to "do whatever it takes to win." Which means you want to blindly do what someone else says it will take to "win." That way lies disaster.

I am SO glad Dave didn't let Bill-O lead him down the garden path. He saw right through that question and didn't let himself get tricked into validating it. Because the real question is not "Don't you want us to win?" but "Now that we are in this mess, how do we fix it? What is best for Iraq, for us and for the world?" And the answers to that question aren't neat and easy and clean and simple like Bill-O wants to make them look. And he sure as hell doesn't have them.

23. It was real nice
Every time Billy tried to bully, Dave stood up to him like a hero. I especially dug the body language. Billy would lurch forward all menacing and Dave pushed right back with a thrust of his head. I was worried it would come to blows. Billy almost stormed off the set at one point. This one's gonna be viral video smash. It's HUGH!!!!!!!!!!1 I'm Series!!!!!!!!!!!1

25. Thanks for the link.
Who was clapping for O'Liarly's milking ploys? How can that simpleton crap work?

Maybe we do deserve the government we have and the loss of our democracy.
Not us at DU, but the serious numbers of Americans who gulp this crap down.

Why were those people in NYC and why where they at a taping of Letterman? Oh my. Did O'Lielly have 20 seats in the audience to fill with his staffers or something?

26. I Had Forgotten How Great Dave Can Be
I used to watch all the time in the '80s and '90s but got out of the habit. I TiVo'd tonight's show after seeing this thread, and as good as the comments are, they don't come close to revealing the thing of beauty that was Letterman pwning Orally (as mine won't, either). Letterman summed it up neatly when he refused to answer a simplistic false dichotomy by saying, "It's not easy because I'm thoughtful." He did a great job. Guess I'll have to add him to my TiVo lineup!
