To the Freepers & the Lurkers: Be Careful What You Wish For
You May Get It.

Want "supreme" power in the President? Wait until the next Democrat comes to power, and watch HER use it.

Were you afraid of Hillary when she was "just" the First Lady? Think how you will feel when she's the President. Or Kerry. Or, heaven help you, SOMEONE WORSE.

Yes, we are JUST PRETENDING to be horrified at the thought of losing our civil liberties, and we can't WAIT to use the "new rules" on YOU. We never liked you anyway, and now we will be able to tote you off to jail for pretty much anything we want -- no more crazy "warrants" when we spy on you, or anything like that. Oh, no. We're going to make it so every bit of freedom YOU STOLE FROM US gets RAMMED DOWN YOUR THROATS UNTIL YOU CHOKE ON IT.

So, don't mind us PRETENDING to cry about Alito; we're confident he's going to give us the power to take away your homes for below market value, and your right to make medical decisions for yourself and your families, and we're going to send your children off to die and be blown up for no reason except that we feel like it, and when they come back, we'll tell them that they aren't "real" heroes and then make shit up so they feel bad, while we cut their veteran's benefits. Meanwhile, we'll deny you medical care for the flimsiest of reasons, and since your employers won't have to keep paying it, you will just have to watch as your families die from treatable conditions, or you enter into indentured servitude to the credit card companies to pay for your children's asthma medicines. Won't life just be grand then?

Don't think the "stolen election" thing is going to keep working. If we can't get them cleaned up, we'll start stealing them ourselves. (Its not like you really care about election integrity, so why the hell should we?)

Oh, yes, you silly, silly Republican fools, you ARE going to regret this. And we fully intend to taunt you with the most OBVIOUS refrain that will make the sting of your lost liberty burn even more:

This is what you wanted. YOU PUT THE FIRST TYRANT IN OFFICE, AND WE WILL JUST HAVE TO LEARN TO PLAY BY YOUR RULES.

P.S. Maybe I shouldn't have spilled the beans about our Secret Plan X, but sometimes, you just have to do it. And no more whining about how Democrats are too "nice" to be this mean -- WE'RE EVIL!!! Bwah, ha, ha, ha!!! EVIL!!!

7. They are convinced they will hold power forever
Edited on Thu Jan-26-06 02:02 PM by bluestateguy
They are sorely mistaken. I don't know what will happen in 2008, but they can only win so many times before all of the cummulative problems build up to bring them down. It happened to us in 1952, and it will happen to them too.

And I don't care about voting machine conspiracies either. I just don't want to hear it. First of all, those companies will have let the Democrats win once in awhile to look legitimate. Secondly, the 19th century was fraught with election fraud by both parties. When one party stole an election, the other party simply stole it back. We can do the same.

11. I've been keeping a "STFU" list
If the the Democratic President violates the law and the Constitution by executing warrantless wiretaps, Republicans are going to STFU
During a major national disaster, Republicans are not going to finger-point or play the blame game, or god help us, hold our elected and appointed officials accountable, Republicans are going to STFU
If, during a major national disaster, the Democratic President plays with a guitar and cracks moronic jokes, the Vice President disappears, senior cabinet members go to Broadway shows, shop for shoes, and go to Baseball games, Republicans are going to STFU.
If, during a major national disaster, the Democratic President continues to stay on vacation, Republicans are going to STFU.
If the Federal response after a disaster is slow and people die because if it, Republicans are going to STFU.
If, when informed of a major terrorist attack, the Democratic President just sits and stares blankly for seven minutes, Republicans are going to STFU.
If this President gets us into a war based on lies and then runs it poorly, Republicans are going to STFU.
If a major terrorist attack occurs, and the leader of that attack of it is not captured, Republicans are going to STFU.
If there are runaway deficits and the President never vetoes a spending bill, Republicans are going to STFU.
If gas prices are 3 or more dollars per gallon, Republicans are going to STFU.
If a top administration official purposely outs a Covert CIA agent, Republicans are going to STFU.
If the Democratic President appoints political cronies for important positions that exceed their credentials or experience, Republicans are going to STFU

43. It would be even MORE perfect if the PRESIDENT was a DICTATOR and if
we got rid of the Constitution and put in its place a theological Doctrine. I know, lets make the President the representative of Christ on Earth! What a splendid ideal!! Never mind that the Roman Emperors following Constantine already tried this and over time ended up as the Catholic Church.

23. Two words: if only
If only I could believe that free elections will ever be held in this country again.

If only I wasn't convinced that the fix was in.

If only I could believe that THEY don't have a master plan to NEVER relinquish absolute power...ever.

Power is rarely ceded without a fight. Now that they can see the Supreme prize, do you not believe that they will use everything in their very, very large arsenal to preserve and consolidate it? They're not going to leave their treasure lying about for their sworn enemies to pick up. Oh, no. Once they have this power, they will not loose their grip on it anytime soon.

If only they hadn't stacked everything against us while we weren't paying attention. These guys are good. These guys are pros.

There's a way to fight them, but it won't be pretty, and it won't be political.

A Poster who can really see what is going on. Democrats in power? What do you think all of this has been about? They will never relinquish power willingly or legally. There will have to be, I am afraid, some kind of revolution to change things if Alito gets on the court.

35. I agree in the main, but there's one major problem
that line of thinking ENSURES that nothing can / will be done to stop them.

I have seen miracles in my lifetime: I've seen the Berlin Wall fall; I've seen Mandela freed and go on to serve as President of South Africa, and numerous others.

The one thing I can tell you for sure is that where people don't believe something is worth pursuing, that belief becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

That's not the way iI want to go down (if go down we must), thank you very little.

38. Not a defeatist; merely a realist
I will keep fighting the legitimate way along with the rest of the windmill tilters, because fight we must. I'll go down fighting. Fighting at least gives you a chance. I didn't mean that the situation is hopeless. I mean that it's more serious than we believe, and we must acknowledge that the republicans not only will cede nothing without the bitterest of fights, but that they are also making every effort to circumscribe all legal means of recourse. We (those who would still fight, myself among them) may have to go non-linear to take our country back, if you catch my drift.

pro-war rallies, and free republic members. And then we'll listen in to your conversations and look at your emails. You better stop calling democrats and liberals bad words. With all those extended executive powers, she'll declare you an enemy combatant and send you all to Guantanamo. Thanks to Bush, by the time Hillary becomes President, we'll still be at war...and to parrot Bush's talking points: It is un-American to criticize a President at time of war...so, you better shut up!

I can't wait for that.
