Poll on Limbaugh's Michael J. Fox comments
Edited on Tue Oct-24-06 05:04 PM by DesertRat
Did Michael J. Fox Intentionally Go "Off His Meds" To Provoke Sympathy?

Right now, 62% say Yes, it looked contrived. I voted "Rush Limbaugh has nerve" which is only at 20%.

3. why so many options
I voted NO, I think his message is important. The top answer is the only way to vote to support Rush's lie. They split up the no vote three ways. I hate shiat like that.

14. They do this many times when they want the right answers.
And Rush has nerve was the exact opposite opinion of above reply. I thought it meant that Rush has balls, not as in he has got alot of nerve. Dumb poll.

7. What the fuck is wrong with not taking his medication, anyway?
I would have *expected* that to show the dramatic effects of this disease. Medications can only help for so long - what we need is a CURE.

They are acting like he's somehow a fraud if he didn't take his meds.

21. I've heard he goes off meds for CLARITY
He can either make sense and SHAKE, or be numb and semi-coherent. Unlike RatBastard, SOME PEOPLE like to be coherent when they go and talk to Congress.

16. Yeah, me too
I would imagine that he wasn't on his meds when they taped the commercial, nor should he be. Why is this an issue?

It's one thing to say he's off his meds - so what. It's another completely different (and horrible) thing to say he's faking/acting/exaggerating.

26. Michael has a very interesting chapter in...
Edited on Tue Oct-24-06 05:41 PM by Kutjara
...his excellent autobiography, "Lucky Man," about just what his meds do and don't do. Essentially, they give him four or five hours of shake-free time, followed by about twice that of much worse than normal shaking. During his last season on "Spin City," the director structured taping so that Michael would know exactly when he had to be on. He'd take his meds 30 minutes beforehand, then do half a day of shooting. After that, he'd go home and shake like hell for the rest of the day.

The meds Michael is on can't be used all the time, or indeed more than about once per day.

So which is the "real" Michael J. Fox? The shakeless medicated one, the post-med violently-shaking one, or the baseline shaky one? I would judge, from watching the video, that he appeared neither medicated nor suffering the post medication 'come down.' What we saw was Michael J. Fox, demonstrating exactly what his disease does to him, without either trying to hide it or exaggerate it. That seems perfectly correct to me.

11. What a horribly structured poll
Not the point of the purpose of the thread, which is obviously to "DU" the poll, but this poll is just so ineptly structured it's baffling. It's clearly not a mutually exclusive/collectively exhaustive poll.

Option #1. Even if he went off meds, why does it necessarily need to look contrived?
Option #2. Are they implying that his "passion" would augment his tremmors? That's a pretty shitty thing to say
Option #3. Has nothing to do with whether Fox was off or on his meds. You could answer option #1 or option #2 and still think that Rush "has nerve"
Option #3. Whose message is important? I'm assuming that they mean Fox's.

So not only are the poll choices not ME/CE, but they are also not in any order. It's like they jammed two separate polls onto one page.

Obviously, some high school intern was tasked with developing this, and has miserably failed.

12. people are sick! I knew someone who had PD and he shook
uncontrollably. He was so ashamed. I think it took great courage for Mr. Fox to put himself up to public scrutiny to fight for this fight disease, to bring it to light. How many of us would have that courage?

She was so embarrassed of her shaking from PD too. It broke my heart. It's a horrible disease and Michael has such courage. How DARE the Right say that the Dems are "Using" him or that he's "putting it on?!

Edited on Tue Oct-24-06 05:34 PM by Blue State Native
yet there he is. And thankfully, he has a voice! I am quite sure he would rather not be where he is! And for Limpballs to speak ill of him and all PD victims is despicable to Mr. Fox, as it is to all of us who truly are compassionate!

On edit: This is for your Nana!

15. What a piece of crap poll!!!
I could have selected any of the last three choices, and they were equally valid and all true. He is very passionate about the cause, but that fact wouldn't change regardless of how much medication he had taken or skipped. His message is very important, regardless of who the spokesperson is or how passionate he or she might be. And Limpballs is a fat, arrogant, scum-sucking, heartless, horrible-excuse-for-a-human-being no matter what the issue is!

17. Typical "push" poll where
there is ONE answer that they know the side they want to win will vote and three answers that those who they don't want to win can vote for... and right now it's 60/41 (how THAT adds us is a bit strange too).

The problem is that people haven't seen MJF too much on TV recently... and when he has guest starred in something, he is probably on twice as much medication to control his disease than normal because it's only for a few hours at a time. Probably there are downside risks to doing that, ones he has decided not to expose himself to for the sake of a political ad where his Parkinson's is the subject. People see him in constant reruns of "Back to the Future" or "Spin City" or even "Family Ties" and think that he can't have changed that much since then... but he has. It's especially hard for repukes who think of him as "one of their own" from the conservative character he played on "Family Ties" to see him endorse a Democrat for Senate.

POLL: Limbaugh Says Fox Is 'Off His Meds' Over Ad
Poll
Did Michael J. Fox Intentionally Go "Off His Meds" To Provoke Sympathy?

The chooses are not mutually exclusive, why even bring up Limbaughs part in these selections? The off-meds option has dropped to 52%
