I think the President and his friends got the message from John Q. Public:

"If you say stay the course one more time, my foot will stay the course right up your ass."

That is the general attitude of the American people. That is the only reason Bush changed his mind. He said he doesn't look at polls, maybe he meant he doesn't look at Poles. I always wondered why he didn't look John Paul the II in the eyes.

Now he's looking at polls, and they say his sorry ass party will lose if they don't start conning the American people into thinking the war isn't all that bad.

1. Too little, too late. The death toll on American troops continues to rise.
I think anything they do now will be a Band Aid attempt to fix the problem. And that just won't hold water. Submerse it, and it comes right off.

It will not work. The majority of the American people are on to them now, and they want them OUT. Even staunch Republicans that I know are voting for change, and they've said that means getting the Dems in there.

2. Righto...
they know how badly they fucked up. It just depends upon how many Americans are smart enough to see through the con job.

3. The wingnuts must be confused
See, they thought Bush was a man of principle, a man who never wavers once he makes a decision. He's above playing politics, he's just a god. Except when an election comes up.

4. Because John Paul II said if Bush invaded Iraq, he'd go without God

God does not love the aggressor according to JP II.
