Where are the black helicopter people?
Remember the whacked out armed to the teeth people who saw gubmint agents and black choppers coming to take their guns and rights away from them.
It seems to me that these people and members of the nra should be the ones worried about what is happening now. Their fears are coming to be the gubmint really is spying on them and if I were a bent on seizing control I'd damn sure want to know who owned a gun of three.

So what about wayne? what about it elohim city? what are you guys thinking now? still lovin good ole gdub?

1. Very good question.
It's funny, though, the media has wiped out the years 1992-2000, unless Bush wants to say "Bill Clinton did it too".

2. Sad, isn't it?
That we've come to a point where the militia movement's nightmares look like they are coming true.

3. You know I was thinking that just yesterday,
after Waco, you couldn't turn on the news without seeing some wild eyed half-wit in camouflage fatigues ranting about Janet Reno, the UN and the jack booted govt. thugs out to steal their rights and take their guns. Where the hell are they now when this shit is actually starting to happen?

7. It's who they were afraid of
I think most of that terror was psychological - the feminists & minorities were coming to take their rights away!! They think Bush is "one of them" - a good old boy - so they implicity trust anything he might do. I bet Bush could send the ATF to round up guns & 90% of the militia nuts would say it's a good decision.

to own a gun. We wouldn't want people to be able to fight back when they start kicking in doors in the middle of the night. :scared:

The path seems to be the opposite direction from the philosophies of the NRA and such. Wouldn't it be funny to see the Gun Lobby to defect from the right-wing. :D

Would this be a good time for Liberals, Progressives and anyone on the left to start arming themselves? That would make them nervous to see all of our names on requests for gun permits. Isn't that right Agent Mike? :hi:

6. I've been looking for just that thing
If I were a member of the nra I'd be awful nervous right now, my name is in a databank, one that the repugs have had access to and used for years now.
I was wondering the other day what the nra has been rewarded with, since the theft.

8. I think the "black helicopter" crowd was largely an MSM construct...
intended to ridicule those who are concerned about intrusive government policy and violations of the Fourth Amendment. Undoubtedly there are a fringe out there who believe that the government is in cahoots with the aliens, is broadcasting mind-control rays from somewhere in Alaska, and that UN troops are secretly flying around the country in unmarked helicopters, but I don't think has ever been all that common.

The "black helicopter" label is probably less useful against civil-libertarian types now than it was then, so no we have the "soft on terror" label. You don't support at-will wiretaps, no warrant required? Opposed to indefinite detention without trial? That's you and me...

12. There is a group of offshoot Mormons building a fortress in El Dorado, TX

They claim there was a break in the leadership of the Mormon church, sort of like the people who make such claims and get together and elect their own Pope.

I think one of them has a warrant out on him so could happen one day. They are building this thing by hand even making their own cement to keep contractors out. The local sheriff's office fly a helicopter over it most days to take a look but so far no armed stand off. Not sure if the helicopters are black or not. :)

14. To be fair,
Alex Jones was a real black-helicopter type during the Clinton years, but he is firmly in the anti-shrub camp now.
