My sister's boyfriend is ready to come over to our side, help me help him!
Such a nice late Christmas present that my sister came home yesterday and said that her boyfriend told her he's going to have to vote for a bunch of Democrats in 2006!!!! He brought this up while she was looking for "Indecision 2004" at our mall for him to buy her. Anyway, I'll give a little background since I know DU loves convert stories.

Throughout 2004, he was a good little church-going, talking point spewing Bushbot. My sister was not willing to give an inch in her defense of all things Kerry. Needless to say, I honestly thought that they were going to break up over the election when I heard about the nasty arguments they had every time they talked politics. They graduated from college in May of 2005 and he moved from Erie, Pennsylvania to Bedford, Texas (near Dallas) for work for Bell Helicopters while she's going for her master's in Bowling Green, Ohio. Apparently, Texas Republicans are too much for him because he told her yesterday that the Republicans are going too far and he is not at all liking what is happening. So he's planning to vote for a bunch of Democrats!!! Here's the place where you can help.

He also told her that he isn't sure how to change his voter registration from PA to TX. Does anybody know what I can tell her to tell him? He switched his driver's license already, but other than that, I'm clueless. In a point for my sister, he didn't register until she made him do it with her even though she knew he was going to vote for Bush because she recognized it's important just to vote. Period. Granted of course that he was such a Bushbot that he almost didn't vote because his polling place was a Methodist church and he's a Catholic. But whatever...

I'm also curious, does anybody know who his House of Rep. member would be?

Anyway, thanks if you can help with the registration thing! We need more Democratic votes in Texas!!

Thanks again and I hope nobody minds me sharing the story and asking the tiny favor!

2. Simple.
He goes down to the County Board of Elections and registers to vote. On the registration it will ask him which party he would like to be associated with -- at that point he selects DEMOCRATIC. :)

What's the zip code for where the lad is moving?

7. Technically correct,
But if you vote in the primaries they stamp your registration card (to prevent you from voting on both party's primaries).

9. I believe the zip code is 76022
Bedford (as I looked up online) has 3 zip codes and when I mentioned 76022 to my sister...she said she thinks that's the one. I went to the US House site as someone else kindly suggested but got the message that I needed the four digit code as well and as my sister is a tad forgetful about details like that...I can't figure out who his rep. is. I'll keep trying though.

6. I know this has nothing to do with registration but
I have some advice for your sister. See I have been married to a republican for 19 years. I believe that he was a republican because of his up bringing. Well anyway never argue politics talk politics. Let him discuss his view than she can discuss hers. After 23 voting republican it is finally sinking in and my husband is slowly seeing the light.

10. I figured out who his rep. is....FINALLY!!!...
It's Kenny Marchant...a first term Repub. from the 24th District. According to congress.org, he got 64% in his election. Anybody know who ran against him? According to that site with the Congressional District maps, the 24th district looks like it may be one of Tom DeLay's creations. But I may be wrong. I'm just glad I finally figured it out.
