Sen. Max Cleland...I LOVE YOU...WE LOVE YOU!
Edited on Thu Oct-12-06 09:42 PM by ourbluenation
Anyone else love, I mean, LOVE this man????

**************************

(rightie tool) JEFFREY: Now we have both a moral responsibility and a responbility to our national interests to make sure that in the way we get out of the Iraq war we don't entail greater consequences than we are suffering right now. So I think it is a good strategy for the President and other Republicans to point out that Democrats are not presenting a realistic, viable alternative for getting out of Iraq without bringing on consequences.

BLITZER: What is a realistic, viable alternative, Senator?

CLELAND: Get out. Redeploy. Take care of our own troops. I think that's what we're talking about here. We do not have a plan to win. Stay the course is no strategy. It is no strategy to win, it is no strategy to exit. We're just getting kids blown up. We've lost 2,700 kids over there, we've got 20,000 wounded, 10,000 wounded for life, maimed for life, and it's time to end this thing. Now the Iraqis are going to settle their differences. One way or the other. They've been at this for 5,000 years. Let them have it. Iraq it is not our 51st state. We've got to take care of our country - we've got to bring the Guard and Reserve home to take care of our country, we've got to focus our active forces - active covertly and overtly, on killing or capturing Osama Bin Laden and his terrorist cadre. They are the real threats to America right now.

snip

CLELAND: If a frog had wings, he wouldn't bump his rear end. This has been a disaster - not just for the Republicans - for the country. We are four years into this war and we've lost a lot of fine young Americans there. It's time to redepoy our forces and bring the Guard and Reserve home and refocus on the real enemy. It is Al Qaeda stupid and this crash in New York should just remind us that it's been five years since 9/11. And if we don't get it now - that it's Al Qaeda stupid - we should be sent up the creek.

Now that there is a talking point. And..."Iraq is not the 51st state". Outstanding.

23. That should be
translated into signs, posters, highway blogs, etc. Simply says it all.

Hey GWB,

It's Al Qaeda stupid!

If he got that, we wouldn't be in Iraq and Afganistan would have been over a couple of years - at least - by now, our ports and other vulnerabilities would be taken care of and we would money to spare to bring down the deficit. Just to name a view postives we would have if we had a an actual president with just very basic rational thinking skills.

9. Oh, Max! What a lovely inspiration you are!
You've been kicked by this country, you've been kicked by your own party, yet you maintain such a peaceful spirit. What a role model!

:loveya:

Thanks for speaking up as you do! Nobody, but *nobody* speaks as you do!

17. I agree. Max Cleland is a hero, a patriot, and a role model.

How could anyone have voted against him? (Never mind, I know.)

Way to go, Max!!

11. I was fortunate enough to hear him speak at a convention last year.
Applauded him until my hands were purple.

What the pukes did to this good man should make everyone screaming mad. And yet, they take pleasure in making fun of him. These are the kinds of monsters we are dealing with.

12. He was great today, but I'm not feeling the love.
He's a hero in many ways, but I'll always remember that he came to Connecticut to campaign for Leiberman before the primary. Leiberman stood next to him and said that the way Lamont was distorting his record was akin to the way the Repukes smeared Cleland. I'll never understand why Cleland let Leiberman use him that way.

20. I was born and raised in Georgia.
Although I don't live there now, it will always be my home. Max Cleland. I am so proud that he is from my home state. My family has always participated in state politics there, and I'm sure he knows, or has known, some of my family. Someday, I hope to have the opportunity to meet Senator Cleland myself. A true patriot and a hero in my eyes. It's always a pleasure to listen to you, sir.

Yes, I really, REALLY LOVE this man.

(I wonder what he thinks of the RFK Diebold whistleblower?)

28. Born and raised, left, came back, won't leave again!
Cleland may be back in the Senate soon enough...his successor hasn't been stellar.

I'll never forget, nor forgive, Ann "Paris Hitler" Coulter's column where she pissed on Max because he was injured in Vietnam in a grenade accident, NOT in combat...what a c@n+ she is.

And what a patriot Cleland is!

30. Oooohhh! That Ann Coulter thing
left me so enraged!!! I couldn't believe anyone would even have her back on their talkshow after that. I decided to permenantly boycott any show with Ann Coulter, but since I rarely watch the MSM anymore, it was sort of an empty threat.

Georgia is a special place. Georgia may breed terrible bigots, but then there is plenty of greatness from there too: Max Cleland, Jimmy Carter, Sam Nunn. Not to mention the great musicians Ray Charles and Otis Redding; or writer Flannery O'Connor. What a great state!

AND It has by far the coolest state song of all.:patriot:

I'll be there with my family for Thanksgiving and I am so excited about it.

29. Some forget that DNC promised us clean elections after 2000 fraud hearings
Edited on Fri Oct-13-06 03:41 PM by blm
catalogued so many GOP tactics used against our voters.

Max and other Dems lost in 2002 because DNC never lifted a finger to secure the election process, and by 2004 they allowed even MORE fraud to go down.

What happened to the office of Voter Integrity during that four years? Why did they fail so miserably?

Why?

LIHOP, Mr. McAuliffe?

31. Cleland is talking like a military commander
The first responsibility of a commander is to protect his troops. That is what Cleland was doing when he lost three limbs.

That is the difference between those who know what the military is about and the chickenhawks now directing our foreign and defense policy. The former commander knows the soldier is a human being; the chickenhawk thinks the soldier is cannon fodder.
