Poll question: Which of these incumbent Senators do you hope loses the most?
Obviously we want them all to lose, but if you could only have one go down in defeat who would it be?

3. I voted Chafee. Here's why:
Chafee loses. Republicans point to it and say, "See? We can no longer run any moderate or liberal candidates!" Republicans then run Neanderthals in every race. Republicans then go down in flames.

Some of those troglodytes will get in (see Strategy, Southern) and then we'll have to deal with them.

It's a serious problem that the 'Licans have been installing a preponderance of spittle-spraying zealots in office while our side has been sending slightly left-of-center non-crazies. The center of gravity is waaaaay too far to the right.

We wouldn't do ourselves any good if we concentrated on sending deranged far-left pols -- that is, out of the mainstream of American thought. (I know, I can't think of any far-left Dems in Congress either -- at least as I define far-left -- but this is for discussion purposes only.)

Somehow we need to reestablish the rules that allowed basically wide-center collections of Dems and 'Licans (and third parties?) to get along and actually govern the place as opposed to spending all our time counting coup (or watching Dem backbones dissolve over the last 5 years).

Yes, it's essential that we stand up against the insane and deeply unfair policies that the 'Lican wingnuts have been shoving down America's throat, but at the same time there needs to be some way to come together.

Encouraging 'Licans to send even wackier candidates doesn't sound like an especially good idea.

9. Is it bad that I'm more upset with Lieberman than Santorum?
I want him to lose more than I want Santorum. Which is an impressive feat in itself.

13. Santorum must go.
He makes me, as a Pennsylvanian, look like I would elect a crazy, misanthropic, misogynist, homophobic idiot.

We could run a small pile of inanimate bricks against Santorum and I would gladly vote for Senator Pileofbricks (D-PA).
