If Dems are majority, Pelosi will appoint only one committee ....
to investigate any wrongdoings of President Bush. She and Democrats have too much to do to have too many investigations going at one time. She will simply appoint John Conyers to investigate and the rest of the Party will move on to other pressing matters. John Conyers will report back to her in three months with a report on his findings and whether more investigation is required. If there is evidence of criminality or cover-up, another committee will be appointed to follow up on the facts. The Party will then follow wherever the evidence leads them and let the chips fall where they may...

Would not this be the best strategy for the Democrats if they win the majority?

I have an answer
Legislation is going to be at a complete standstill since Bush can veto everything. It's a good time to investigate every single wrongdoing.

8. Exactly. Don't give him a damn thing he can veto, because he will.
Nope. Spend the next two years showing Americans that he and his cabal are being "held to account" (as shrubby likes to say) and get to the bottom of all the criminal acts they have committed and use the power of the Congress to end the war in Iraq.

Once all that is done and we've elected Al Gore to his rightful place as President of the United States of America then we can start undoing *'s evil deeds.

22. Make him do it and then question his motives
Remember if the Democrats take control it will be because the people are tired of Bush* and his Republican patsies. Make Bush* veto every bill Congress passes.

14. Your sig pic
creeps me out so much sce56. The men of nightmares.

I do worry a bit about Mr.Conyers, but he is a smart cookie and I bet he watches his back or has those that do. He does understand exactly what we have been up against; unlike a majority of the reps.

Here's to subpoena power in the hands of John Conyers! :toast:

21. It has been a long nightmare. It started the day
I learned the idiot governor of Texas was "running" for the WH.

And it's gone downhill from there.

2. I assume that Pelosi won't stand for those "signing statements"
Bush's* free ride is over. I suspect that Rummy will be called on the carpet. I hope that the Democrats will bring back "Checks and Balances."

3. I think so.
There is far too much legislative work to be done to begin to repair all the damage.

1. Unwind the tax cuts for the rich, to begin addressing budget deficits.
2. Reverse the recent torture legislation.
3. Enact effective anti terror legislation (adjust the Patriot Act)
4. Reorganize DHS, Fema, etc.
5. Enact legislation to repair damage to CIA, etc.
6. Health Care.
7. Prohibit signing statements and harness excessive Presidential power.

That's jut off the top of my head.

Without the support of the Supremes, he will carry on with his signing statements.

6. Pelosi needs to use investigations like a club.
Every time bush* threatens to veto something she should announce the establishment of a committee to investigate one of his crimes. I think the admin will learn to come to heel.

9. it would be morally wrong to let "W" slide, and bodes poorly for Pelosi
I have my doubts about Pelosi.

If she lets "W" slide, then my doubts will be confirmed.

Still, its better than a repugnican.

I want the crimes investigated, the criminals charged and punished.

Who wants Jeb Bush for president in 08?

Thats why W has to be charged.

11. Charged and Impeached?
Do you really want Cheney running the show in front of the curtain? Bush is a lame duck now, let him stew in his own filth for two more years - get it so ripe that come 2008 they will be an overwhelming response to have a Democrat as president. I appreciate wanting him investigated, but what would taking him out of office gain other than raising Cheney to the highest office in the country? That scares me more -

17. Don't count your chickens before they hatch
Sitting on them to help them hatch is much better. Corporate Media seems like it's kind of like in a small feeding frenzy for ratings. Being evasive when the other side is needy is always a good game plan when you are trying to enhance your position in the negotiations. I think the dems are doing a good job in this poker match as far as I can see.

19. I say one of the first bills we prepare is to
rescind all the legislation that bush has supplanted with signing statements. With a provision that due to the abuse of bush signing statements, all signing statements must be reviewed by the congress.

This will be like rat poison to a rat. He can't write a signing statment on a bill that says he can't write undisclosed signing statments.

Then think about this, we can rescind any legislation that has ever been passed by introducing legislation that supersedes it. If it is passed by the congress, the new legislation takes priority.

Now...let me tell you the ultimate bomb. We rescind the authority the IWR gave him. We gave it to him, we can take it away. With control of congress we can do it too. No more hiding behind what he used to think was an indestructable security blanket.

Think about that
