BUT...BUT...BUT...William Jefferson Hid $90K In His Freezer!!!!!!!
It doesn't matter that there are 10+ different MAJOR scandals involving repubs. Cunningham, DeLay, Abramoff, Ney, Foley, etc.... It doesn't matter that each one of those scandals involves FAR more $$$$$ than the Jefferson case.

It doesn't matter that mysteriously Jefferson used to quite recently be a Republican, but converted to Democrat not that long ago. Hmmmmm.

I still sense something peculiar with that whole situation, but given the SHEEPIE Corporate Whore Media, I doubt we'll ever know the truth. But it's amazing that the repubs manage to pull this TALKING POINT up Every Single Time the Foley case is discussed. It happened again last night on Real Time. It took about 30 seconds into the subject before the repub SHILL who was on immediately stuck that in as an example of the Democrats issues.

Of course, being a Child Predator, and having the 11 Year Fiasco COVERED UP by repub Leadership, is on the same level as one with a recent Democrat convert, caught with suspect money, yet not ever covered up by the Democratic party. IT'S NOT EVEN SIMILAR, but of course, you won't hear them say that.

These FUCKERS just try to deflect from their BLAME! That's all they're good for. SHIFTING BLAME & CHANGING THE STORY. They can NEVER take responsibility. The word does not exist in their vocabulary. It's Fucking PATHETIC. Even more so is the fact there are so many MORONS in this country that believe them and take their word for Reality.

3. Listened To Tweety's Explanation Last Night
When Maher asked him whether he's conservative or liberal. He gave some BS excuse about "Wanting To Know The Truth." And trying to get his guests on record, and go after them for the truth. Which he admits is often hard to come by.

What I can't stand is his constant effort to bring a phony "fair and balanced" approach, where he goes after Everybody, and will often bring up stuff which has absolutely NOTHING to do with something he's discussing, but is convenient enough he can stick it into the issue. If the failures of the republicans are obvious to us, they surely are obvious to him. If he was really concerned with making a difference, he would give up on this "fair and balanced" approach, and go after the TRUTH.

I doubt Tweety is capable of that though. Deep down he's just a Corporate Media WHORE. Unlike Olbermann, he can't see the forest through the trees. He may sense the tide turning, and will possibly change his angle, but it's all for ratings, not for TRUTH and his own conscience.

2. The Reply...
Hastert went ballistic when the FBI searched Jefferson's office, too. Just what could these Republican leaders be thinking?

The issue is not about Foley (anymore) or Jefferson (anymore). It is the coverup and impediment to criminal prosecution of congressmen/executive brance by the House Republicans and their leaders.

4. IT'S THE COVER UP STUPID
From what I recall, the Minute the Democrats learned about Jefferson, he was out of the party. He even wanted to stay, and asked to be given the benefit of the doubt, but they pushed him aside. THERE WAS NO COVER UP!!

Of course, this case is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. And it involves the Moral Terpitude issue these Fucking HYPOCRITES supposedly live by. Like they should be talking about someone like Jefferson stealing money. THEY WROTE THE FUCKING BOOK ON THAT SUBJECT!! This is about something MORAL and Far Worse! And they tried to COVER IT UP FOR 11 FUCKING YEARS!!!

Don't count on anyone in the Corporate media to point that out, beyond Olbermann, the lone voice we have out there in terms of "newsmen."

5. Actually, he is still in the party, and on the ballot.
We (Democrats) did strip him of his committees, but he has not yet been charged with a crime so he has not been asked to resign congress or kicked out.

Google it, it was Hastert out front trying to stop the FBI search of his (Jefferson's) office.

Coverup then, coverup now. Both issues look bad for Hastert and the Republican House leadership now.

6. There must be something possibly mitigating toward his
not being so guilty. This investigation isn't producing any evidence of a crime that I've heard of. And he's right there in his Louisiana seat where he's always been.

Wouldn't that be a kettle of tuna if he really had some legitimate explanation for all that money in his icebox. Could be, investigation has been going on for some time now.

7. Are you sure about this...
"It doesn't matter that mysteriously Jefferson used to quite recently be a Republican, but converted to Democrat not that long ago. Hmmmmm"

I looked at various bios of Jefferson and couldn't find any reference to him being a Republican. Are you possibly confusing him with Nagin?

8. No, I Swear When The Story Broke, I Read It Somewhere
That he had switched parties. I'm sure it was discussed here at DU, around the time he was caught. I know, because there were others speculating, as we do here with DU conspiracy theories, about the suspicious nature of the whole thing, combined with the fact he had previously been on the other side of the aisle.

9. CHENEY is tied into that story.
Remember how Shrub sealed the files for, what was it, 30 days, or 90 days?

One accusation is that Jefferson was engaging in bribery involving Nigerian officials.

Nigerian. Nigerian. A full investigation would, I read at the time, possibly have uncovered some of CHENEY'S shady dealings in the world of ILLEGAL ARMS TRADING. Seems there was a lot of that going on in Nigeria.
