What political freedoms do we have left in this country? The right to protest 100 miles away from the nearest public official in a free-speech zone? Forget about going outside, now our ability to share our thoughts and search for information over the Internet is under constant surveillance.
The battle has already been lost: The major search engines MSN, Yahoo, and others already sent their information to the military industrial complex last year. Google stands alone with their denial to send these records. (And even Google has just agreed to comply with the Chinese government and censor their search results in China-oops)
Even if Google succeeds in their fight against the White House's unconstitutional data-mining subpoenas, the battle has already been lost. Whatever happened to the laizzes-faire Republicans that would never subpoena a business (after all, this might be construed as some form of regulation)!! Come on, these are the same guys that let businesses create their own private armies.
Here's a great article.. really shows what this administration is doing to our rights.. even online. Who has created more fear and distrust in this society, our enemies or our own leaders?
After Subpoenas, Internet Searches Give Some Pause

After all, they didn't hear about the thousands of dead lying in the streets of New Orleans until it was too late. They didn't hear about the illegal surveillance of American citizens until some unknown person (who has probably been eliminated) leaked it ...
When this is over, who will be left to pick up the pieces?
