Did Foley vote Drunk?
Edited on Wed Oct-04-06 12:11 PM by uppityperson
He is claiming alcoholism, and IM'd during Senate voting, according to yesterday's IM release. So, does that mean he voted while drunk?

I don't think so, but wanted to share this train of "logical" thought with you as it made me wonder.

3. I believe he would have
He had an 80%+ rating from the christian coalition. One would have to be shit faced drunk to vote that way.

4. I can only imagine all the laws that would be invalid if it were
proved that more than one Congresscritter or Senator couldn't pass a Breath-a-lyzer test before voting.

5. Are they trying to say the inappropriate behavor only happened
when he was drunk? If so, then yes, you could infer that easily.

7. no, they aren't quite. But he is implying his problem is alcoholism
saying he's an alcoholic and checking into a rehab place. I don't think so, or think this was his problem, but followed a train of thought to a funny conclusion. I think the repubs in power kept him there because they could control him by threatening to out him and he got outed anyway.

8. Well I don't know a lot about alcoholism...
but I would be surprised to hear that alcohol caused him to act inappropriately (in this case at least) while sober.

6. Well that is what his lawyer said
when he stated as fact that Foley had been drinking when all the emails and IM's were sent. So those IM's sent from the floor clearly mean that he was drinking on the floor. Drinking it up, trolling for sex, and making a nations laws, the perfect combination.

10. Well, I don't think he was drunk at all. That said, if you were gonna
bag legislators for "voting drunk" I have got to let you know that both chambers would be pretty much empty.

When they take votes in the evening, they're often coming back from dinner with drinks or bellying up at a Cap Hill watering hole...or from getting the bottle out of the right bottom drawer of the desk in their offices!

13. No such thing
If he is a drunk, then it is likely that people near him knew about it.

Cheers
