Hastert Says He Will Not Resign
WASHINGTON (AP) - House Speaker Dennis Hastert brushed aside any suggestion of resigning Tuesday as President Bush expressed confidence in Hastert's ability to deal with an election-year scandal that has shaken the Republican Party.

Excellent. I would much rather see Hastert explain his actions in November, and let the voters decide his fate.

You Go Denny! Just don't go yet :)

5. I agree, this is good news
We'll have to see how it plays out, but this can't be good for the Republicanoids.

12. Freeps keep saying that their losers resign
So let Denny-boy hang on to his seat of power, grasping and clutching with every ounce of his strength and every dollar of Republican funds.

He's a cancer on the sphincter that is the GOP. Let him keep this story alive just by his presense.

10. Trent Lott said he was not going either.
But he went anyway. We all know that if they have to and enough noise gets made they'll feed ol' Denny boy right to the wolves.

Keep fightin' Denny! Keep showing the world what a piece of shit you really are.

11. Excellent ! Drag this out Fat Bastert; keep this topic in front
of the people for as long as possible. As Craig Crawford said when Keith O. asked if Hastert was going to be thrown under the bus, "Is there enough room under that bus" or something to that effect.

16. He will not resign for the same reasons Rummsfeld will not resign
Remember Rummsfeld, he is one of the other factors in the bu$h cabal.

They are all in this together and none of them will resign, they will have to be taken out in handcuffs.

18. Bastard certainly will resign
Creepily Hastart doesn't want to take the fall,
for 100 more page fuckers all around him,
who know if he goes down, immunity and all,
holy advance of perverts on washington mall.
Fondling kiddies on the way for a quote,
scores of republicans greedily note,
outraged voters occasionally vote.

20. When The Offer That Kinda Support...You're Really Toast
It's called the political kiss of death. It's the 200% George McGovern was behind Thomas Eagleton before he was dumped as his VP candidate in '72 (extra credit if you remember who his replacement was). It's like Michael Corleone grabbing you and planting a juicy one on Denny's forehead. Let the deathwatch begin.

I sure hope this turns into a Boehner/Hastert catfight. I was expecting this AFTER the election if the GOOP lost control of the House...but it looks like its already "game on" for the real control of the party.

Hastert is boooosh's bitch...while Boehner wants the power and wants to distance himself from the White House. He got his marching orders from DeLay, not Rove. Hastert was put upon the party as a quick fix after Livingston's sexual exploits came to light and he couldn't replace the disgraced Gnewt Gingrich. DeLay tolerated Hatert, but now it looks like this wing wants total control to completely crash this party into the rocks.

The longer this cat fight goes on toward election day, the better.
