1. are you sure he's a dunderhead?
That sounds like something you might say if you were intentionally trying to separate Foley from the GOP.

2. Did Foley change
his party affiliation? Did he re register as a Democrat so they could blame the Dems for this one? :eyes:

3. What was the word after the last "Republican"?
If it was "congressman", that radically alters the context.

5. That's the jist I heard
I don't recall the exact words. But I got the impresson that Blitzer fumbled it as he was talking about Foley as a former congressman.

12. I'm not doubting you. Just sounds like he meant to add 'congressman'
and his not doing so makes it sound very um, whitewash-ish. Of course given Blitzer's history, that impression doesn't seem very innocuous, whether intentional or a Freudian slip or whatever.

It's not good professionalism either way.

4. Nice to hear Sen Lugar agree with Pelosi re: investigation of leadership
Blitzer read pelosi's demand for an investigation of Republican leadership who knew about the goings on and did nearly nothing. Lugar agreed that an investigation was needed. I thought he'd choke on the words but he did get them out.
