As I look back to the nixon era and the glee I felt
upon his demise, I am starting to get the same feelings concerning the bush* cabal's fall from grace. Indictments, impeachment and bars on the windows and doors are in their near future. Today I am regaining hope that this ship of state will be righted and the justice that the blivet speaks of so often will be.

4. I was in Junior High during Nixon's downfall and demise ...
Edited on Tue Sep-26-06 08:09 AM by ShortnFiery
Since I didn't fully appreciate the intellectual ramifications, at the time - and even now on an emotional level - my sentiments were reflected in parts of David Bowie's song "Young Americans."

Do you remember, your President Nixon?
Do you remember, the bills you have to pay
Or even yesterday?

Have you been an un-American?
Just you and your idol singing falsetto 'bout
Leather, leather everywhere, and
Not a myth left from the ghetto
Well, well, well, would you carry a razor
In case, just in case of depression
Sit on your hands on a bus of survivors
Blushing at all the Afro-Sheeners
Ain't that close to love?
Well, ain't that poster love?
Well, it ain't that Barbie doll
Her heart's been broken just like you have

All night
You want the young American
Young American, young American, you want the young American
All right
You want the young American

You ain't a pimp and you ain't a hustler
A pimp's got a Cadi and a lady’s got a Chrysler
Black's got respect, and white's got his soul train
Mama's got cramps, and look at your hands shake
I heard the news today, oh boy
I got a suite and you got defeat
Ain't there a man you can say no more?
And, ain't there a woman I can sock on the jaw?
And, ain't there a child I can hold without judging?
Ain't there a pen that will write before they die?
Ain't you proud that you've still got faces?
Ain't there one damn song that can make me
break down and cry?

----

Simple ole' sentimental me. :hi:

7. Tks, I'll never forget Nixon emphatically stating, "I am not a crook!"
Edited on Tue Sep-26-06 08:22 AM by ShortnFiery
I can only pinch myself now because I mistakenly thought that NO group of people could ever be as corrupt as "Tricky Dick" Nixon and his Administration.

I was wrong. Yes, Nixon was corrupt and paranoid as hell. He was dangerous to the maintenance of a Democratic Republic -BUT - Nixon and his goons were not near as frightening as, IMO,
The Cabal of Sociopathic Personalities now representative within Our Executive Branch. :wow: :scared:

We live in interesting times - indeed. :P :hi:

11. Understood, however, we must not let the true nut case polarizing
kind of FREAKS out of the woodwork. The Right Wing has stirred up some very frightening if not potentially violent personalities. I remember conservatives raving about dangerous Liberals. Now it's the Right Wing Whackos who are both intellectually and emotionally unstable. :wow:

As these increasingly Authoritarian Republican Leaders mobilize this demented faction, I see potential Gestapo and/or SS recruits. Translation: They're followers are F**king Nuts!

Yes, we must hold our leaders accountable before they get Cobert's back wash (29%) to drink THEIR particular brand of Kool-aid politics. :scared:

12. Reagan was more corrupt, but lucked out with a coverup that worked.
Bush I even more corrupt, so it's been lovely progression to where we are now.

That's why, when people jump up and down and scream warnings about NOT pressing for impeachment, I just shake my head in wonderment. HOW FAR WILL WE LET IT GO BEFORE WE TAKE SEVERE ACTION???

Yes, I'm yelling. It's our nation, afterall.

Just how important is it..?

13. Sorry to not be clear...why the renewed hope?
I haven't seen anything to give me hope that we are walking up to another Watergate-like period. I must have missed what you picked up on.

3. Just the things that has happened lately, like KO finding his voice
The generals this morning on cspan, the judges order to not destroy the evidence in Ohio, etc. Anything more and I will have to start thinking and I don't want to bruise that thing so early in the morning.

10. When Conrad Burns (Crook-MT) goes down, and other heartland GOP scum
I will dance in the street. The more seats we take on the Hill, the better the chances that America can be wrested from the hands of the Cheney/Rumsfeld Junta. Cut the legs out from under those two arch-criminals and bush becomes just a comma in history

 Yeah, bush- you are the comma in history, not those killed or hurt in Cheney's War For Profit. You are just a misused piece of punctuation. And as we take the Hill, you can amble out of our sight and hide in a bottle until the real forces of good haul your ass to the Hague.
