Boeing wins $67 million border security contract

By MATTHEW DALY
Associated Press

WASHINGTON — The Homeland Security Department today awarded Boeing Co. a $67 million contract to install a high-tech "virtual fence" along the Mexican border in Arizona.

The contract, which calls for cameras, sensors and even unmanned planes, is the first part of a multibillion-dollar government plan designed to reduce illegal entry along the 6,000 miles of the Canadian and Mexican borders.

The final price tag for the so-called Secure Border Initiative is unknown, but Homeland Security officials disputed published reports saying the cost could exceed $2 billion.

1. I wasn't aware Boeing was in the fence-building business.
I guess awarding Halliburton another one might have been a bit too 'obvious'.

3. Why don't we dig a trench, fill it with dollar bills and then ignite it
and keep filling it with fresh ones to keep the fire ablaze?

It would probably cost less...and melt the glaciers a bit faster while we were at it.
