Whatever prominent belief system that might hold sway over certain Gubb'ment folks...

Another show just came up saying it was edited for "content." I know it wasn't for blood and gore, but for either a "bad word" or nudity.

Will those people please stop messing with entertainment? Isn't there something more important like war and government sanctioned killing?

On edit: It must have been those goddamned Muslims! They're the ones!

1. Without 'Moralists' we would all be in the ditch, together...
and having one hell of a time.

2. Tom...
The word "Moralists" was in quotations to differentiate them from the rest of us. "The rest of us" are usually plenty good to decide in what we want.

9. I would still pefer the ditch to the road if the road is filled with ..
'Moralists'.

I got no room for them.

I just stay away from them.

Besides my dear Mother, I know not one soul who attends church.

And she just goes for the social interaction.

3. The "Christian" thing didn't work, huh?
Personally, I think the "Christians" (I'm not talking about all Christians...notice that I put it in quotes) ARE responsible for the censorship you're talking about.

Depending on your definition, true "Moralists" wouldn't have a problem with this.

For some reason, there are people who are not content until everyone thinks and acts like they do. Their minds are incapable of being expanded; they are unable to see anyone else's point of view.

I was watching the two volumes of 'Kill Bill' on cable this evening, and got that same 'edited for content' warning at the beginning. Of course, the movie was every bit as bloodsoaked and violent as the theatrical release, with (I think) a couple of crops to hide closeups of dismembered body parts, but all 'cursing' had been removed. Even the famous "Pussy Wagon" that The Bride uses at the beginning of the film had been digitally altered to read "Party Wagon" (as was the logo on the carkeys). The time and effort that was wasted 'saving' a tiny portion of the population from exposure to a 'dirty word' is staggering. Yet it's perfectly fine for those same delicate souls to see dismemberment, implied rape, torture and cruelty of every kind, just so long as there's no 'unnecessary language.'

Not only are the guardians of morality intrusive and sanctimonious, they're also a bunch of fucking hypocrites.

salty language, scantily-clad folk, simulated sex and violence do not offend me and even if they did I could just turn it off - war and poverty and racism and classism do offend me and I cannot flip a switch to deal with THAT

6. Let's hear it for "moral relativism".
To Hell with moral absolutism, no matter what form it comes in.

7. Like those 'nasty DU mods' who locked your other thread
for being a broad brush attack, so you had to start another thread using an even broader brush this time? How dare they moderate your entertainment! So what if someone else finds something offensive when you don't!

Take a break and please do put me on your ignore list. It would make us both happier.

13. You've got six threads on page one alone, more on page two.
When you're auto-posting new threads with such regularity that you lose count, maybe you've got a problem?

15. A stray nekkid boobie could bring down the empire.
Those crazy, chaotic, free-flowing sexual energies must be channelled somewhere productive, like into hate and war.
