should senators signing on to Bush's program for legalizing torture and
other criminal acts be considered criminals?

1. accomplices
They should be marked for permanent removal from government service, at minimum.

6. Indeed! Everyone knows torture is wrong and unAmerican. There's
no excuse.

3. Isn't there a legal term for that? "Aiding and abetting"...
Edited on Sat Sep-16-06 02:21 AM by badgerpup
...or "accessory before the fact" or something like that?
Not at all sure of the terms (obviously!! :dunce:)...
but isn't there something about assisting in an action which you KNOW is a crime...even if you aren't actually the one comitting the crime itself?

What izzit about politics that kills any sense of ethics a person may have?
I know there's going to be SOME corruption...nature of the beast, but this gang has acheived a whole new level...or depth.
:nuke:  :puke:

5. I have always heard the old saw about making politics being
similar to making sausage--that it is much better to be totally unaware of what goes into it or how it's done, otherwise you could not stomach the results!

This crop of criminal corporatists have carried that analogy to the extreme. The sheer amount of ugly evil that is the playing field of these "god bless the USA" contortionists is beyond calculation for us mere mortals.

I used to be somewhat saddened, from time to time, that I had not reached higher in my career, perhaps attaining a seat as senator or representative and doing more to contribute to the guidance and direction of US government.

As I have become more and more familiar with the sacrifices and compromises requisite to sitting in today's exalted council, I spend less and less time regretting being part of it, and more time being thankful I did not.

America is one sick society and it is up to us, ungifted neophytes though we are, to rebuild in one lifetime, what these derelicts have managed to destroy.

7. Of course. And their criminal action
Edited on Sat Sep-16-06 05:11 AM by mmonk
is not binding anywhere else in the universe. They will be internationally recognized criminals for the rest of their lives (and subject to justice). Alot of tin man dictatorships in the past have tried to retroactively legalize crimes but they failed.

9. And those running for office on this notion that such legislation
"makes the world safer" should be labelled as criminal. The policy and their vote should be denounced for the criminal enterprise and afront to civil and human rights that it is.

And all their crimes are on record.
