Reasons I believed there was a chance ABC/Disney would not air P 9/11

These are all occasions in the history of Disney where they buckled under public cricism, or as to not appear offensive to their public:

1. They pulled the Rescuers because of the image of a topless woman in the film: an animator's joke
which could only be seen if the film is slowed down and viewed frame by frame.

2. The recall of the video release of the animated feature The Little Mermaid, after the public complained that there was a fallic symbol hidden in an image on the box cover.

3. The company decided to censor images within Who Framed Roger Rabbit, including a moment (again only visible by slowing down the movie frame by frame) where Jessica Rabbit's crotch is visible, another moment where Baby Herman passes under a woman's dress--looks up, drools and flips the bird. There's also an image (rumoured) where Betty Boop allegedly appeared topless for a moment in her stage reflection. Some of these images are still in laser disc versions supposedly.

4. In 1997, there were complaints about the sexist nature of the Pirates of the Carribbean ride at Disneyland. Some were offended that the pirates chase women, and while doing so, said rather abrasive things. The company closed the ride and changed it, so that the pirates were chasing chickens instead of women, and in some cases chasing women carrying trays of food, suggesting the pirates are merely hungry. There even a woman featured chasing a pirate.

(NOTE: I still don't think the ride is "pc" considering they now chase chickens, which is offensive to vegans.lol ;))

5. For me the biggest point, was their refusal under Eisner's leadership to distribute Fahrenheit 9/11. I hoped that once they were reminded of this hypocrisy and under the threat of legal action by Clinton and the DNC they may pull the pos.

I was wrong. :(

2. Strings being pulled from high up
Very high up. Like the folks who give Cheney his orders high up.

Where is James Baker these days? 'The fixer' is the one public face on the faceless oligarchy that pulls the puppets' strings.

6. What kind of public criticism?
Right wing "family values" criticism. The country can't hear us. Most people don't even know there's a controversy over this crockudrama.

7. The amount of money Disney stashes away........
every year because of the GOP's Corporate tax cuts far outweighs any sense of fairness. Business is business, gotta' keep those tax cuts coming. Truth and fairness? Sorry, the Corporate bottom line trumps all.

12. It may not be a bad thing to hope our government can do better.
It may be naive but it's better than always taking the negative tack.

I'm glad for every simgle thing we did to protest the airing of this travesty. We need to become just as disciplined as the pod people at getting our message out

Thanks for all your work on this! Our turn is coming up.

11. they must be desparate to air such a piece of libelous shit
the gop must be scared of having a Democratic run House that can look into their illegal activities. They probably feel they have no choice.
