Rasmussen: Sen. Allen’s Lead Shrinks After Controversial Remark
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/2006/State%20Polls/August%202006/virginiaSenate.htm

Senator George Allen's alleged slur of an opposition campaign worker of Indian descent, recorded on video, has provoked a furious controversy in the state. In the wake of the controversy, support for Allen has dipped below the 50% mark for the first time this year.

The latest Rasmussen Reports election poll in Virginia shows that Allen has lost a few percentage points of support and Democrat James Webb has gained a few. The incumbent now leads 47% to 42%, a six-point decline in his lead over Webb since July.

In April, Senator Allen had enjoyed a 20% lead, which shrunk to ten points after Webb secured the Democratic nomination in June.

1. If Webb can run an aggressive campaign, this looks well within reach.

2. Only leading by 5 points.....Good.
Now Webb needs to educate Virginians about Allen's long history of racism, abuse of his siblings, shady financial dealings, and bogus "good old boy, cowboy" persona. Not to mention remind them that he has basically rubberstamped every failed chimp policy. Webb has gone on the offensive somewhat already. He needs to completely take the gloves off now and leave Allen battered, bruised, and without a clue as to what hit him.
