Wallace out of retirement for interview with Iran's president
NEW YORK -- "60 Minutes" veteran correspondent Mike Wallace may have retired last March but that didn't stop him from scoring an exclusive interview Tuesday with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

And that fact wasn't lost on the controversial Iranian president, who halfway through the interview asked Wallace: "I thought you had retired."

Wallace's interview will appear on the "CBS Evening News" on Thursday night and on Sunday's "60 Minutes."

The 88-year-old Wallace, who has interviewed almost every notable person in his nearly 40 years on "60 Minutes," said Wednesday that he wasn't going to let a little matter such as retirement stop him from doing a story about one of the biggest gets these days. After getting word two weeks ago from CBS's liason in Tehran, Sia Zand, that Ahmadinejad would be willing to talk, Wallace hopped a plane to Paris and then Tehran with producer Bob Anderson and associate producer Casey Morgan.

3. C-Span
Hafta confirm this, but this a.m. on C-Span, it's listed for this Monday
evening at 8 p.m. EDT. Should be interesting, depending on the skill
of the translators. Maybe Mike could take Condi's place...she ain't
worth shit. Like her employers, she's just another fuck-up.

4. You are correct about C-Span mon. at 8:00pm. It will be the
full 1 1/2 hr., whereas, 60 Minutes will be abbreviated to IIRC 30 minutes.

6. I agree. There was something very uncomfortable
about the manner Wallace questioned Ahmadinejad -- most notably the way he pressed him for quick answers instead of just letting the guy answer the question as asked. Wallace almost seemed to be baiting him. I would've liked to have heard what Ahmadinejad had to say without the Wallace's attitude and without the edits.

If the CSPAN interview is longer and less edited, I think I'll try to catch that.

8. Wallace wanted to paint him as a bad man
Looking for nukes and funneling weapons to Hezbollah.
Wallace's bias was very evident.
Go kiss bush now mike!

9. Somehow
Ahmadinejad was able to handle Wallace's behavior very well, which is probably why Wallace seemed a bit unhappy.
