Did you see Dobbs re: HS kid the ES&S machine said won over
a long time incumbant, and when they stopped the auto equipment and hand counted the paper ballots, the result was exactly the opposite?

The person who spoke for the State said it was 50% ES&S fault and 50% ours. Their program was wrong, and we didn't do enough testing!

GGGGRRRR

Even Lou asked if that doesn't convince everone in the US that we need a paaper trail, I don't know what will!!!!!

1. exactly the opposite?
what a simple little embedded program it would be to just switch the results if the higher number was not in the R total.

2. Of course that's possible, but in the case he described, everyone
ADMITTED being WRONG!

Don't you see? Those of us who have been complaining about the faults of voting have continually been called crazy because nothing this blatant has ever happened!

THIS instance actually shows EVERYONE how stupid things happen, even if there was NO INTENT!

This kind of story is very inportant to get out because it supports the insanity of any voting without the ability to verify the votes!

8. Incompetence as an excuse.
is something American culture has learned to accept. That's how they can get away with stealing vote after vote without people burning down their so-called polling places. Let's celebrate our mediocrity.

4. I don't know. I think this was a primary, so it wasn't really like that.
The spokesman for the State said they have a law that mandates rotation on the ballots, so if you are #1 on the ballot in precinct 1, you'll be #2 on the ballot in precinct 2, or maybe it's random, I don't know, but what happened there was that the ES&S programmer didn't include the rotation in his program, so all the votes defaulted to one candidate, and he was a HS kid, sort of doing this as a joke. The guy who finally won was a many ear incumbant.

I think this was Iowa, but I'm not positive.

Lou's point was "There must be a paper trail so if something questionable turns up, we have the opportunity to veryify the count!"

Lou has a main stream show, and I'm really glad he's talking about this!!!!

7. It was Pottawattamie County IA I believe and a primary. In fact,
if the result had not been so suspicious, the hand count would probably not have taken place.

So what does that tell you?

It's just obvious to me that many (MANY) races around the country have been fraudulent and yet haven't been recounted because the differences weren't dramatic enough.

This is indeed an example that should be publicized far and wide.

5. That's great...it proves we need to dump the machines, period
England votes with paper ballots, they're counted in public auditoriums by citizen volunteers (lots of bank tellers help), and it works fine. Everyone sees everything and they preserve the chain of custody of the ballots before, during and after the election. Canada has all optical scan ballots but the optical scan counters in our country are all made by Turkey's, Diebold, ESS, & Sequoia. Time to adopt the ways of the British, and it is one heck of a lot cheaper. Settle for nothing less than the best.

Excellent post.

6. You'll especially appreciate this...

DOBBS: Went from ninth to number one. If this message is not getting through that's emanating from every corner of the country using these voting machines, I don't know what it will take.

PILGRIM: I know. And when you talk to county after county after county that have these problem, they all come to the same conclusion, you must have a paper record, it seems.

DOBBS: And I love the election officials in these counties and districts, and in some cases states, saying we're going to pay closer attention this time. Wouldn't you pay close attention every time?

PILGRIM: One would hope so. It is an election.
