Kucinich: US Has Moral Obligation To Bring A Cessation Of The Violence
Kucinich: At Historic Moment– Administration Is Failing Its Moral Obligation To Seek A Cessation Of Violence In The Middle East
July 25th, 2006
Policy Of Inaction Will Have Great Consequences For The Region And World

WASHINGTON - July 25 - Congressman Dennis J. Kucinich (D-OH), Ranking Democratic on the House Government Reform Subcommittee on National Security, Emerging Threats, and International Relations, gave the following floor speech today on the continuing violence in the Middle East:

“At this historic moment the United States is failing in its moral obligation to bring a cessation of the violence in the Middle East. This policy of inaction will have great consequences for the region, the world and safety of our nation and our allies.

“The United States stands alone in our ability to bring an end to the violence in the Middle East, relieve the humanitarian catastrophe that has enveloped the people of Lebanon, Palestine and Israel.

..................

“As we demonstrate concern about the plight of the Israelis, so we must not be indifferent to the plight of the Arabs, Muslims and Christians, and all others who are suffering the destruction of their homes, their families, their hopes, their dreams.

4. Yeah but America hasn't been too big on doing the moral thing
lately

and America for damn sure has no right to declare the moral high ground about anything

I agree the U.S. should act in the interests of ending the dying

...but America refuses to stop her own killing

It's such an ugly, ugly mess

I'm not attacking DK's message...it's the right message and it needs to be said....if the executive was the right executive, and Bush ain't, DK wouldn't have to even say this

I don't think we can bring peace to anyone at this point. Who would listen at this point? This admin has NO credibilty and no trust among the international community.
They can't even bring peace to Iraq, with over 100,000 troops there and a few trillion dollars!

12. I'm glad he's breaking with the Democrats on this
I guess he turned down the AIPAC checks and decided to speak more as a human than a Democrat on this issue.

Thank God!
