Edited to add: Or, as Stephen Colbert demonstrated, they couldn't decided whether or not it was WWIII, IV, or V.

8. WW V
WWII -- that was the German/Japanese thingy -- 1930s & 40s -- US entered and kicked the butt out of everyone (although my English friends beg to differ -- they didn't need the help of the US.)

WW III -- That was either the Korean War -- or the Cold War.

WW IV -- That was the Cold War or the Vietnam War (other nations besides the US were involved)

This was is (could be -- maybe) WW V.

Now which is "this" war?? Which battles, blood letting, murder, slaughter, death and dying can be lumped together under the all inclusive word "war"? Or are all battles essentially fighting for territory, water, oil -- and these are being waged world wide -- today.

Is the current Iraq invasion part of the whole pattern of World War? Or is the Iraq invasion/occupation just a continuation of Gulf War I? Is the Israeli attack on Lebanon merely part of the Iraq invasion/occupation? We are seeing the same sort of shock and awe -- which translates into bombing a country into the 7th century.

Or the whole middle east slaughter -- one super power going in and dropping all sorts of bombs on urban areas and killing lots and lots of civilians -- is this a separate war? One by/for/of Israel for Israel's own purposes -- which we obviously don't understand (because we are asking "why?" which means we can't understand the need to bring death and destruction to areas of Lebanon who support Israel).

OR is this war just the continuation of the CRUSADES -- you know the religious wars of the religiously insane who manage to come into power every so often??? Then this war would predate all of the World Wars -- which are world wars because the US was involved.

War or whatever -- people are dying and a whole lot of people are paying and will be paying for death and destruction for a very long time.

Because people are the stupidest creatures to have evolved from the muck of slime of the earth -- or people are the stupidest creatures god ever created -- which god?? Take your pick of hundreds of creation myths.

8Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called sons of God.
10Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 5:8-10 (New International Version)

5. It's called Doublespeak.
And it derives from Doublethink.

War is not war!

Up is down!

Left is right!
