3. Good news, but it's early....
After Sonny Perdue and Saxby Chambliss, I've learned not to underestimate the stupidity of the Georgia electorate.

4. Even better news
Georgia Lt. Governor -- 513 of 3,147 precincts reporting (16%)
Republican Primary
Casey Cagle 60,680 71%
Ralph Reed 24,831 29%

This is an even better pasting if it holds up.

7. Now this is whacky
Georgia Lt. Governor -- 675 of 3,147 precincts reporting (21%)
Republican Primary
Casey Cagle 41,501 55%
Ralph Reed 33,510 45%

I don't know what happened. This is the same link, though I hardly blame you if you don't believe me, but the numbers are way different. I guess they made a huge booboo.

9. That looks a lot closer to the one I gave.
Probably a boo-boo, but the loser is still losing.

8. So, one of the nastiest crooks imaginable, who preys and
has preyed on many thousands by worming into the most vulnerable areas of their lives and defrauding them, still manages to get twenty nine thousand voters willing to ignore the crime?

Some poor people can afford only a tiny part of their nature being sweet and pixie-like--the trusting part--the part that depends on the idea that a self proclaimed "man of God" would never betray them. Sometimes being a human is disgusting!

Edited on Tue Jul-18-06 08:25 PM by KamaAina
Long time no see! :hi:

State School Superintendent
Democrat
30% of precincts reporting Votes Percentage

Carlotta Harrell 35,405 36.7%
Denise Majette 61,097 63.3%

Still going -- and still a Dem! Proof that American lives can indeed have second acts.

edit: gotta go bold!

12. I hope in a couple of hours here we here ol' Ralph concede defeat.
I'm no fan of his opponent, except to say that Reed is even worse than that.

14. Agree.
I'm certainly not rooting for Cagle, but Reed is a national name. Reed winning will make other Republicans happy, and I certainly don't want to see that.

18. Yes. And it will embolden the nutcase fundies.
Exactly the wrong outcome from my standpoint.

I have to bite a bullet on this one and root for Cagle.

16. I fear I may have jinxed her
by posting news of her old nemesis Denise Majette, above.

Her new nemesis is one "Hank" Johnson Jr.:

U.S. Representative, District 4
Democrat
23% of precincts reporting Votes Percentage

John F. Coyne, III 1,123 9.2%
Henry C. "Hank" Johnson, Jr. 6,014 49.1%
Cynthia McKinney 5,113 41.7%

Now the question must be asked: Are repuke voters crossing over to make mischief against Cynthia this time around, too? The repuke nominee is running unopposed; her anemic vote total makes this at least plausible.

23. Note that GA 4 has the lowest percentage of precincts reporting
out of all 13 districts: 27% (as of 10:43 EDT). Next lowest is GA 5 at 35%, where John Lewis is unopposed AND the repukes aren't even running a candidate!

Odd that a largely urban Atlanta-area district would have the fewest precincts reporting, don't you think?
