CNN actually pokes "St. Ronnie" in the eye...showed clip of Reagan
saying when Marines went in in 84 and barraks were bombed and over 200 Marines died...CNN showed a clip of "St. Ronnie" saying: "well we aren't just going to bug out of Lebanon" just withdraw for a bit."

CNN then said but other "analysts" have said that the withdrawal of US troops by Reagan set up the emergence of Hezbollah. :wow: Never thought I'd hear CNN diss Reagan...

Anyone else see this segment?

1. That's not poking Reagan in the eye.
That's a defense of Bush and his policies.

5. They're blaming the dead guy whose family favors stem-cell research.
I'm surprised that Reagan didn't lay a wreath on the graves of suicide bombers like he did for the concetration camp guards.

2. That's protecting BushInc, as usual. They don't care if Ronnie gets hurt
along the way - BushInc only tolerated Ronnie, anyway. House of Bush's real partners are the House of Saud and their other global fascist allies.

10. You think Reagan was more honorable than the Bushies?
IOWD's the BushCo/NeoCons had nothing to do with "St. Ronnie?"

How do you explain Bush I? Or, are you saying the NeoCons were silent throughout Reagan and Bush I waiting to corrupt the little, clueless spawn? I didn't get your post.

16. Bush1 was working his own games while Reagan stayed distracted by
the USSR and other matters. Reagan left Bush1 to his oil games and ignored all the covert activities he likely didn't even hear about till it was too late.

3. Are you referring to "Cut and Run" Reagan?
We left a vacuum when the US pulled out of Lebanon so it was a great opportunity for Hezbollah to move in. Actually problems in Lebanon date back to the 1950's.

Aide: Reagan left Marines vulnerable in 1983 Beirut
WASHINGTON (AP) — A former defense secretary for Ronald Reagan says he implored the president to put Marines serving in Beirut in a safer position before terrorists attacked them in 1983, killing 241 servicemen.
"I was not persuasive enough to persuade the president that the Marines were there on an impossible mission," Caspar Weinberger says in an oral history project capturing the views of former Reagan administration officials.

But he said one of his greatest regrets was in failing to overcome the arguments that '"Marines don't cut and run,' and 'We can't leave because we're there'" before the devastating suicide attack on the lightly armed force.

"They had no mission but to sit at the airport, which is just like sitting in a bull's-eye," Weinberger said. "I begged the president at least to pull them back and put them back on their transports as a more defensible position."

6. Oh my, the media is reduced to throwing Saint Ronnie to the wolves
in a pathetically obvious attempt to protect and defend the Groper-in-Chief.

8. Reagan's decision set up Hezbollah?
That can't be true. I read here on DU that Hezbollah was created by Israel. :eyes:

against Carter...is that what you mean? Actually, Reagan probably wasn't involved with that it was his Repug Handlers.

I've come to believe that the Repug/Think Tank/Corporatist/Globilization Movers are only "fronting" Puppet P-Residents and have been doing it for decades.

Sad to say...I lost friends of long time over my support of Clinton...but I've grown to dislike him for capitualting to those "same powers" to get elected and Hillary seems to be following the "sell out."

But, I could just be a bitter, angry American at this point and not open to many opposing viewpoints of what I've lived through all these years. :-(
