15. Will CSPAN repeat Alterman this evening?

I'm stuck at work and I'm a big fan.
His cool and effective total victory over the pompous Dennis Miller (when Miller still had his ill-fated show) was one of my favorite TV moments. Miller was reduced to speechlessness (ahhhh. at last) and actually had to put his head down on his desk. When he finally roused himself from his total smackdown by the calmly knowledgeable Alterman, Miller made a glib getaway. He was totally struck dumb by someone smarter who was armed with facts.
It was beautiful.

but that's just my liberal bias

a shame if they don't, because it really was refreshing to hear him speak some truth for a change

the most moving part centered around his retelling of when he was at the WH when Clinton got Rabin/Arafat (is that right?) together to sign whatever accord they did. he said he actually cried...the only political experience that has ever moved him to that extent. he went on to say that things continued on as they always do in Israel the very next day.

Alterman seems to have a pretty realistic view of the way things are going over there, and doesn't, apparently, allow his religion to alter his view of the world.

he had totally dismissive words for Counterpunch, btw, in response to one caller: he said he didn't believe ANYTHING on that site, and mentioned Cockburn by name as being unreliable

he also mentioned truthout in response to another caller, and said that he hadn't read enought to make a judgment on them, but said they'd done some good things. he did mention, obliquely, the Jason Leopold brouhaha, but did NOT say they're unreliable

and I occasionally read the site but I have yet to understand the negative views. Anyone know what the story is on this, is there something outright dishonest about Cockburn?

you never know when they're on. sometimes they stick parts of them on during live coverage
