US vetoes UN Sec council resolution condemning Israel
Specifically the two week incursion into Gaza. Big surprise.

2. Why is it good?
If the resolution was universally self-evident and worthy of veto why didn't other permanent members like China join in?

This is clearly an example of incestuous US/Israeli politics nothing more.

3. it was a one-sided condemnation.

It was nothing more than an example of the hate some Arab nations have toward Israel.

4. The arabs hate Israel? Last time I checked it was the Christians
who did their damndest to wipe the Jewish people from the earth. When they were expelled by the Christians from Spain, who took the Jews in? The muslim Ottoman Empire. When the Christians destoryed Jerusalem in the first crusade and killed an estimated 80,000 people (many of them Jewish)what was the Muslim response? They spared the lives of nearly all the inhabitants when they finally regained it (including Christians). And during subsequent Crusades who did the Jewish people side with? Generally the Muslims who they shared far more in common with than the zealots from Europe killing in the name of the Messiah. This idea Arab nations 'hate' Israel and the jewish people is a very recent one brought about by the arbitrary way Israel was created as a nation by the Imperial powers. Arab animosity towards Israel will fade once Israel and the United States accept the fact that Arab/Muslim concerns (right of return, fate of Jerusalem, a contiguous Palestinian state with rights to the resources on its own territory) are important and valid. The best thing that could happen to Israel is if it finally had to stand on its own and survive without American backing. I believe it would succeed and be the better for it.

5. Did I say the Arabs hate Israel? No, I didn't.
I said Arab nations! And if you want to talk about groups doing their damnedest to wipe out Jews, check out the birth of Israel!

"Arab animosity toward Israel will fade once Israel and the United States accept the fact that Arab/Muslim concerns (right of return, fate of Jerusalem, a contiguous Palestinian state with rights to the resources on its own territory) are important and valid." You are either naive, or just don't really understand the geo-political structure of the Middle East!
