Does that excuse whatever law you may may broken before today? Professor David Cole of Georgetown was asked a similar question this morning on C-SPAN. If you are breaking the laws of our country and/or international laws in regards to torture, then you are a "war criminal". Not from this day forward, but also, in the past. There have been no passes given to any leaders or soldiers of any country. We must be a country of laws. What does this mean?

7. Is it possible to prosecute a former President once he is out of office?

Can Bush be tried in civil courts for any laws that he may have broken while he was in office? Of course, while he is in office, he can only be impeached. But he knew that would not happen with "his" Party in power. Can he be held responsible for laws broken once he returns to Crawford or Austin?
