VIDEO UPDATE: Spazeboy has video of local news coverage of me "harassing" Joe here. When I initially heard that Joe Lieberman and Joe Biden would be appearing together in my hometown of Stamford, CT, I had no interest in attending. A friend of mine tried to RSVP for the event, though, and was told that it was open only to "Stamford Irish Democrats".

Since I'm an Irish-American Democrat from Stamford, I decided to stop by the event to learn more about this organization. Given that Joe Biden is the only high-profile Senate Democrat to be willing to campaign with Joe, I thought it would be a bonus to see what he would say to reporters about Joe threatening to run as an independent if he loses the primary.

I planned just to be a fly on the wall at the event, figuring it would be a huge crowd. But when Joe Lieberman repeated the lie that Ned Lamont is running a "one issue" campaign and then said that Lamont lacked "courage and integrity", it really got my Irish up. The fact that it was a very small crowd meant that, unexpectedly, my question got quite a bit of press attention.

Maura is great. She was featured on the Nightline blogger segment

in March 2005. She really got some good points in. The Nightline moderator showed this picture of her and her father who died recently. They were at Aldon Hynes' home for a fundraiser in 04 I think.



She posted that Dean and her father talked for a long time, and it meant so much to her father.

6. What is it about "politics" that makes people

act that way. Such "fakery", disingenuous communication, and pre-packaged lies. Then, for the press to focus on the wrong things and propagate lies about an honest questioner--that didn't even interrupt the presentation but politely waited for the relative privacy of one to one conversation. It's frustrating.

How many people will fall for Lieberman's nonsense about Democrats not coming out on a hot day, or not knowing they needed to vote in the primaries... Lieberman knows that he has support from conservatives/republicans and hopes to take advantage of that. The supreme degree of hubris and ego involved in Lieberman's insistence that he, and he alone, is the man that's desperately needed by more than just the Democratic Party, but by the people of the state of Connecticut and the rest of America as well... unbelievable.

Congratulations for having the courage to be heard, and best of luck dealing with the unexpected, unpredictable backlash of flawed press coverage (and seedy behavior of the Lieberman staff).

God it was making me furious when he was saying Lie-berman "votes 90% with the Democrats." What a BS stat that is. On little things like the bankrupcy bill and the war in Iraq he's a BushCo poodle, you know, just the little tiny things...jeez!

Like voting for cloture on the approval of Samuel Alito, which stopped the fillibuster. Was that a vote he counted as being WITH the Democrats on? If so, then frankly I'd rather in that case that he had voted with the minority like folks like Feingold! I can count on Feingold's votes where he doesn't vote with the Democratic majority as voting in ways that the Democratic Party majority SHOULD have voted for to support Democratic constituency as well as the welfare of all Americans in general. Feingold's done it with things like the censure bill, the Patriot Act, the Telecomm Bill during Clinton's years, etc. What "minority" votes can Lieberman hold up to us as a vote on principle FOR the interests of REAL Democrats and REAL Americans! Lamont should challenge him on that. It's not just "siding with the Dems" all of the time (many times having their votes corrupted by DLC agenda) that is the measuring stick we should be looking at. It is what makes sense for Americans!

What Joe is doing really does stink, kudos for Maura for challenging him on it.

I also find it humorous that there's an Irish-American group when anyother slash-American group gets crucified in this country. And one that supports illegals to boot, lol. Just too ironic.
