Please help us get a GREAT Democratic candidate elected!!!
Edited on Thu Jun-29-06 10:23 PM by SaveAmerica
Hey everyone!!! Did you ever go to a meeting with a candidate and hear him or her speak words that finally give you hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel? I have had that experience with our candidate for the 8th district of the House. I was ready to fight tooth and nail to help turn the House around no matter how hard the battle. I'm still ready to fight but it won't be as hard as I thought with a candidate that everybody loves - this man leaves hope in his wake. He says words that we have been longing to hear, words we've been hoping people in the Democratic Party would say. He is Larry Kissell and he needs our help. Tomorrow is the deadline for fund raising and I'm trying to get the word out for him. Here is a link to his web page, www.larrykissell.com. I found out just moments ago that he's been endorsed by Netroots so I'll add an article about him that has a link to that also (where it says 'throw some cash his way' at the end of the article), it's http://www.mydd.com/. If you are able to give any amount at all it would be so much appreciated. He's the kind of person that as soon as you meet him, you know he's the right man for the job. Your donations will help get him out to as many people as he can in our district.

Thanks in advance everyone!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!

ps I hope you don't mind but I'll be kicking like a crazy donkey for the next 24 hours!! YeeeHaaaw!!

2. Good Morning Everyone!!
Here's a little poem from someone who's not getting too much sleep (it's for Larry, but mostly for all the people working so hard to help him);

Larry, Larry, Extraordinary
How does your campaign grow?
Seniors, dem teens,
and those in between,
volunteers all in a row.

5. You know why I like Kissell? Our current 'representative' thinks that
George Bush, Tom Delay, and Hastert live in our district. Why else would he represent them when he votes and not us? He said he would not vote for CAFTA but after a last minute talking to from Hastert, he votes for it anyway and then soon afterwards, the dough starts rolling in to his campaign. These are some of the dirty dollars we're up against. I told Kissell I couldn't take another day of this non-representation and he agrees with me. He is ready to represent. So to the person who just gave that donation over at ActBlue, thank you, we're that much closer to having one of our own on board.

http://www.charlotte.com/mld/charlotte/news/14079513.htm

For the Bush administration and for much of corporate America, nothing was higher on last year's "to-do" list than getting Congress to pass CAFTA -- a controversial free trade agreement with six Central American countries.

That's why, ever since then, they've been showering Rep. Robin Hayes with gratitude.

The Concord Republican, who saved the pact by changing his "no" vote to a last-minute "yes," is getting high-profile, expensive help in his re-election bid:

• First lady Laura Bush, who rarely stumps for House members, came to Charlotte last month to help Hayes raise a reported $300,000. U.S. Trade Representative Rob Portman soon followed, meeting with Hayes and N.C. textile producers, who had been divided on CAFTA.

• Political action committees for 30 companies and business groups that led the fight for CAFTA donated almost $80,000 to Hayes' campaign last year -- most of it after the July vote.

• House GOP leaders have also pitched in, though their largess came in the month before the 217-215 House vote. That June, Hayes' campaign got $35,000 from the leaders' PACs -- including $10,000 from House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill.

It was Hastert who approached Hayes the night of the House vote -- at midnight, in the House Cloak Room -- and told him they needed his vote.

14. Do I hear a fifty? Anyone with a fifty? Or if you don't have a fifty, how
about a fiddy? We'll take a fiddy, too. Or even a fiddy-two, we ain't picky. Fiddy-two going once, fiddy-two, going twice - just in the nick of time to the teacher who's home for the summer and wants to help a fellow educator (yes, Mr. Kissell is a high school teacher!) Thank you ma'am, with Kissell on board we can show some people what it REALLY means to leave no child behind!!

(PS, someone needs to add fiddy to the spell checker)

16. Kicking for the soldiers that Kissell will bring home...
Fort Bragg, NC is in our district and Kissell is dedicated to bringing the troops home. He will have none of this 'stay the course' stuff. In sharp contrast, our current representative is dedicated to spreading the lie that Saddam Hussein was directly involved in 9/11. So your dollars donated to Kissell will rid us of a liar who doesn't have our soldiers' best interests in mind and replace him with someone who does.

http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/06/29/hayes.911/

"Saddam Hussein and people like him were very much involved in 9/11," Rep. Robin Hayes said.

Told no investigation had ever found evidence to link Saddam and 9/11, Hayes responded, "I'm sorry, but you must have looked in the wrong places."

Hayes, the vice chairman of the House subcommittee on terrorism, said legislators have access to evidence others do not.

Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona, said that Saddam was a dangerous man, but when asked about Hayes' statement, would not link the deposed Iraqi ruler to the terrorist attacks on New York, the Pentagon and Pennsylvania.
