Why shouldn't the President be charged with a crime or misdemeanor?
Because we are at war? Because he did not know he was breaking the law? Because he was told by his Attorney General that it was legal? Now that the Supreme Court has had the final word on putting people into prison without a trial or legal defense, what is the defense of George W Bush? Why shouldn't he be impeached? Please explain...

5. No. He must first be charged.
And he has been. By the US Supreme Court ! It is now up to the Congress, the Senate in particular.

2. He should be charged
But I'm not betting that he will be

Safe money is on Congress granting him a pass

3. I'll charge him with 100K counts of murder and conspiracy, and one count
of treason for each lie he told leading up to the Iraqi invasion.

Without Congressional approval, though, my charges mean nothing.

Historically, SCOTUS has ruled a president can't be indicted. So, until we win Congress...

6. Decision on Gitmo Undermines Bush’s Case For Warrantless wiretaps
The way they worded the ruling, it pretty well strips out the legal claim that he can wiretap too:

8. It'd be easier to explain why he should be prosecuted for his war crimes.
For one, hes a citizen and citizens are bound by laws. For another he started a war by lying, clearly war crimes.

9. Well, if you can get enough Republicans in Congress on board

for an impeachment, he should be impeached. I don't think there will be enough Republicans though because I believe that they have been bribed or blackmailed not to do anything like this. I'm mean look at their records since Bush took office.

Also, John Dean (of Watergate/Nixon fame) brought up an interesting point on AAR awhile ago that the SS would not allow him to be arrested if he didn't submit voluntarily. The only way to overpower the SS would be with the military, who wouldn't do it because they have sworn an oath of loyalty to the commander-in-chief.

So welcome to the Middle Ages when the king was above the law and could rape, rob and murder at will with no consequences. The only way to turn EVERYONE against this administration is to come up with proof that he had something to do with 9-11. We need a deep throat and the investigative reporters with the courage to get this done.

11. Yes, but will there be enough Democrats to make up
Edited on Thu Jun-29-06 12:34 PM by Cleita
for the Democrats who have been corrupted? There is still the problem of removing him from the White House if he doesn't want to go.

12. If shrub was impeached, who would be president?
Wouldn't Cheney have to step up? If so, maybe that's why no one is pursuing impeachment.

13. No, since Cheney is so caught up in the Chimperor's agenda
probably even as far as making policy, we'd get a twofer. Both would have to go, then we'd get the speaker of the house. However, this may not be as bad as it seems because he would be a lame duck. The point is at this late date, it's too late to stop the damage Bush has done, however, he should be held accountable and in a way that everyone who would be king might start thinking it's not such a good idea, that there are consequences for treasonous and criminal actions.
