Real Patriotism
Democrats need to stop trying to follow the Patriotism of the Republicans. Democrats need to come up with their own definition of patriotism. I tend to think the alternative definition of patriotism is the real definition of patriotism. It is not patriotic to call for a war and then say that you hope that your son gets a deferment so he can go to law school instead of going to fight the war you called for. For those wondering who did this it was George Pataki. At the Republican National Convention Pataki talked about how much we need this war in Iraq. However, months later when his son who was in NROTC in college graduated and was commissioned as a Marine Corp Officer Pataki said that he did not want his son to go to Iraq, he instead wanted his son to be granted a deferment to law school.

My reason for bring this up is that I watched a segment on Hillary Clinton this morning. At the end of the segment one of Hillary's people said that Clinton was doing these things in order to cover herself from charges of being unpatriotic. It is not patriotic to call for a flag burning law or amendment and then vote to close VA hospitals. It is not patriotic to say stay the course and then not provide any type of help for the soldiers when they come home. It is not patriotic to have troop not being feed in a war zone. The Democrats now have an opportunity to show what real patriotism includes. I hope some of them decide to do that instead of staying this current Democratic course of following fake Patriotism.

3. True Patriotism is putting your Country before your Party
Republicans have never ever done that so IMO they are in no way Patriots.
