Why is Karl Rove writing articles for Time Magazine?
This week's issue has a one-pager from Rove about what made Teddy Roosevelt a great president.

Isn't Karl Rove a college dropout? What makes him an expert on historical context?

And also, he neglected to mention that pioneering conservation efforts was what made TR great.

The Ann Coulter cover was bad. Now, Karl Rove? Forget it, TIME.

Not even bothering with the stenographers in the pressroom anymore, I guess.

6. Rehab of Rove is in full tilt - Ben Stein and Limbaugh both have
spoken in glowing terms about Rove this week.

Why I Am A Republican
by Ben Stein

Karl is probably as important as any human being on this planet except Mr. Bush. He is a world-class political figure. Yet he helps wash the dishes. He helps keep the house clean. He walks the dogs. I have never heard him say one mean word about anyone on the other side. Not once. He is probably the most humble human in a position of high authority I have ever met.

Third when dinner was over, I told Karl I knew he has a lot of work to do and we would call a cab. "Nonsense," he said, "I'll drive you home." And with that, he got into his modest car and drove Alex and me home. (We actually had him drop us at the Barnes & Noble on M Street.)

Now, this is a great man. A great and well-grounded man.

At this point, I question a great deal of Bush administration policy, especially on taxes. But Karl Rove is why I am a Republican. He is how Republicans are. Richard Nixon was not kidding fifty-four years ago when he talked about his wife, Pat, not having a fur coat, but instead happily owned "...a good Republican cloth coat..."

Rush Limbaugh's White House Visit
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/blog/2006/06/28/BL2006062801268_pf.html

After making a few Viagra jokes, conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh yesterday described his Friday visit to the West Wing, which included a private chat with Bush.

Limbaugh was in town to emcee a Heritage Foundation forum on the TV show, "24," which is the darling of conservatives for, among other things, its endorsement of torturing terrorists.

"Went over to the White House and I chatted with the president in the Oval Office, was just the two of us for about 15 minutes, and he said to me, 'Where are the "24" people?' I said, 'They're still over at the media gaggle, they're right behind me.' . . . I am not going to divulge the contents of the discussion. These things are off the record. It was pleasant and highly informative, by the way, on a couple of things."

Afterward came lunch with Karl Rove, and several hours just hanging out in his office. "Now, I've been in Karl's presence not a lot, three or four times, but never for this length of time. I can't tell you how brilliant and educated and informed the guy is."

9. I had to actually check the Spectator link
What fawning, obsequious bullshit! That is disgusting, now I have lost even what little intellectual respect for Stien that I had.

7. TIME has pursued an editiorial policy that is 100% wingnut
and has promoted every rotten lie about Democrats that has been hurled by the right without answer. Their editorial policy is pure hate, all the time, no relief.

Yes, they do run some decent news stories every week. Is it worth it to wade through the hate to get to them?

Even my right wing father objected to it after a while, and dropped his subscription 4 years ago. I haven't read it anywhere but online since they dropped Barbara Ehrenreich in the 90s, their one columnist who gave a little balance. Now it's just pure hate.

I guess the execs REALLY like their tax cuts.

8. He forgot to mention a lot of what made TR great
The whole article was a blatant attempt to cast * into the mold of TR. All of the points that Rove focused on were written in such a way to mirror the positive spin of * and his presidency.

11. Great replies on this thread
which still makes DU worthwhile reading. Funny, this admin is trying to kneecap the press forever-why not just BE the press? With all the bullshit that has ruined this country with fake news-Karl Rove writing for Time magazine sums it all up. Perfect. I see my movie V is still ringing truer by the day.

Gonzales strong-armed Fitz to let Rove go. Why does everyone want to reject the most likely explanation?

I don't really consider Karl Rove the man who I'm going to for presidential history. I'll probably skip over that article.
