TREASON: “FIRING SQUAD” FOR THE NEW YORK TIMES?
Published by Greg Palast June 27th, 2006
By Greg Palast

The Right Wing has gone hog-ass wild over the New York Times’ “shocking” report that the Bush Administration is actually tracking terrorists’ money transfers.? Oh my!

The fruitcakes are in flame! “Stand them in front of a firing squad or put them in prison for the rest of their lives,” says one pinhead on Fox TV.

For what?? The stunning news that the government is hunting the source of al Qaeda’s cash?? “Osama! You must stop using your ATM card! Condi Rice is reading our bank statements!“

..................

It is worth noting that the fanatic screeching for a “firing squad” is guy who claims to be a former CIA agent.? No one can confirm his claim of course, but this character, Wayne Simmons, has made his career blabbering away juicy intelligence secrets to sell himself as an “expert,” stuff far racier than the Times’ weak report.? Well, hypocrisy never stood in the way of the Foxes in the news house.

You want to talk “treason”?? OK, let’s talk treason.? How about Dick Cheney telling his lickspittle assistant ‘Scooter’ Libby to reveal information that led to the naming of a CIA agent?? Mr. Simmons, do you have room in your firing squad schedule for the Vice-President?

1. The WH has been saying that their tracking "terrorist" funds
ever since 9/11... What did the NYT say that wasn't already common knowledge?

2. a little OT
but I was on the Jersey Shore, Seaside Heights, on the boardwalk and one of the booths was a "Shoot Osama" booth. Pictures of the Statue of Liberty and The World Trade Center on the sides.

of course, I wanted to go up to the booth guy and ask how you can shoot someone you can't find...

4. Nothing. But pre-November, it's time to make this an issue, and
perhaps try to intimidate the press while they're at it, While creating a distraction. Brilliant, no?

7. The next time one of those RW sycophants...
...threatens a law suit, why don't we just say "bring it on"?

Maybe add the word "pussy", at the end.

I like that.

"Bring it on, pussy."

5. So repukes have no problems with the NYT holding a story for a year?
Then when it starts getting TOO OBVIOUS of illegal activity by the WH...the NYT becomes all evil and on the side of the evil doers? Why is this story so much worse then the NSAT&T issue? They are the barking lapdogs of the Right.

6. Rob Cordry just explained it
The terrorists "hate us for our freedoms."

The NY Times just rubbed that freedom in the terrorist's faces by demonstrating a willingness to hold our government accountable.

Therefore, those terrorists are madder than ever at our freedom now, so the NY Times put us all in danger.

It all makes sense, if you're a brain-dead Bushie who's spent the last 10 years listening to drug-addled lunatics like Limbaugh and transgendered haters of everything like Coulter.

Of course if you have any understanding of the constitution and remain horrified by the way the Bush regime has used it for toilet paper...

Well, we *DO* live in strange times.

9. NY Fed does this daily; the real story is the NSA's pre9/11 'policy shift'
Edited on Tue Jun-27-06 11:55 PM by EVDebs
""A top-level CIA operative who spoke with us on condition of strictest anonymity said that, after Bush took office, "There was a major policy shift" at the National Security Agency. Investigators were ordered to "back off " from any inquiries into Saudi Arabian financing of terror networks, especially if they touched on Saudi royals and their retainers. That put the Bin Ladens, a family worth a reported $12 billion and a virtual arm of the Saudi royal household, off limits for investigation. Osama was the exception; he remained a wanted man, but agents could not look too closely at how he filled his piggy bank. The key rule of any investigation, "follow the money," was now violated, and investigations-at least before September 11-began to die.""

Now, if we could only get the conservatives to look into the Ptech scandal...but that would lead directly to the WhiteHouse, now, wouldn't it ?
