It really is hard not to take joy in Rush's latest legal troubles
After all, he deserves it. He is totally hypocritical on so many levels with this latest bust. The man who wants all users of illegal drugs jailed is caught, yet again, with illegal drugs. The man who excoriates gays as immoral disease spreaders is caught with viagra as an unmarried man. Yet, I won't take joy in this.

I am every bit the addict that Limbaugh is. 7 years ago today I was drunk. I know that not because June 26th is some special day but because it wasn't. And everyday I was drunk back then. I was lucky, my bottom didn't involve illegal behavior. I am now sober for over 6 years and in my third year of teaching in North Carolina. I am one of the lucky ones. My brother is not. He is still out there drinking.

Rush is at a crossroads. He may well end up in jail. For his sake, I hope this is his bottom. I wouldn't wish his current fate on anyone. I wouldn't deny anyone the hope that comes with a sober life. Like all addicts Rush needs to see that his life is unmanagable thanks to drugs. I won't take joy in this as I know that but for the grace of God it could be me. I honestly hope for his sake he can say this in 7 years instead of saying my God what have I done now.

1. I embrace my schadenfreude with enormous fortitude
Fuck that hypocritical lying traitorous fascist bastard. I hope he not only had viagra, but some narcotics as well and he is sent to jail on a felony rap.

2. I am glad that you are winning your battle...
I think that many find it interesting that his Hubris and his arrogance to belittle people like yourself....who have come to accept that you had a problem and are recovering....it's the arrogance and Hubris of people like him that make others want to see him suffer the consequences of his arrogance...it doesn't make it right.....but Karma is not kind sometimes...

8. thank you it has been an interesting last few years
In one year I burried a parent, moved, changed jobs, and had to design a curriculum from scratch without a decent book. I figure that year was hard enough to show I really did get the picture when it comes to avoiding booze.

3. His addiction may very well explain his
behavior. Erratic, not truthful, belligerent. It would be interesting to see him turn it around and possible reverse his views. It could happen - I have seen it with others when they have recovered.

Congrats on your sobriety. It is a hard thing to do and to maintain.

4. I wouldn't place any bets on that happening.
Rush Limbaugh knows where he gets his money from and he is much to self-centered and greedy to stop drinking at that well.

9. Limbaugh

Limbaugh is a racial asshole ... I too drink a lot but I have not made a career out of mocking folks
and justice would served if he goes to jail

6. I admire you for your courage and success. Keep it up! As for Rush....
I'm sorry, I can't have any sympathy for him at all! He's spent his entire radio career demeaning people who were aflicted by addictions of any kind, and spewed the worst hate I've ever heard over the air waves! His arrogance, and the fact that his $$$$$ was able to get him off the last legal offense prevents me from wishing him anything except quiting cold turkey in a prison cell somewhere, and absolutely NO special treatment!!!!!!

It's about damn time that these hate mongers get to recognize what the real American's life is like, up front and personal!

7. I'm taking a great deal of pleasure in it.
You have all of my sympathy for everything that you've gone through with your own addiction, but you haven't been on the radio hypocritically attacking other people with addictions while covering up your own.

It's not Rush's addiction that's the problem, it's his hypocrisy.

now let him reap what he sows. I try and have compassion for my fellow humans, but I have to draw the line somewhere
