Hypothetically speaking in 2008.....if the Democrats fail .....
...to take back the White House and the Congress.... What would you do? Leave, stay and keep on working to try and take back the country? Or do you shudder at the thought and push it out of your mind? Just curious.

1. My wife and I are planning
on moving to Mexico. As a matter of fact, we are going to Cuernavaca
the middle of next month to start looing at houses. After that, we wiil
look at Ajijic, and San Miquel de Allende, before deciding. Our gameplan is to start preparing now, filing our immigration papers with
the consulate, taking Spanish lessons in the evening, and slowly
giving away or selling whatever we won't need (like my truck).
We are timing our escape for the year after she retires from teaching,
which would be the summer of 2009. I highly recommend others highly consider Mexico. For what 2 people receive from teachers retirement
and a bit more outside income, a person or couple can much better than here.

because this election is key.

A dem win in '06 = democrats with supeona power
A dem win in '06 = no more repug control of committees
A dem win in '06 = no more repug covering up for bush
A dem win in '06 = no more automatic rubber stamp of crazy repug policies

11. I know, but sometimes theoretical discussion is distracting . . .
and I'd rather make good things happen than focus on a future negative.

6. I'll stay here but not be interested in politics anymore. It would mean t
that we have a one party government so why bother pretending that we don't.

BUT on the bright side - hope that will not happen.

7. I might just have to think about
converting to Fundamentalist Islam and going to the playground every day and working on those monkey-bars! :+

8. Of course I hope it doesn't come to that,
but I have thought about it. I would be inclined to leave; probably Canada, but at the moment I'm in pretty dire straits financially. If it does come to that, I'm wondering if I'll be able to leave. As grim a metaphor as it is, sometimes I wonder if I might find myself in the position of those unfortunate Jewish people who were unable to escape Germany during Hitler's rise to power.

9. Razor Blades. Wrists.
Edvard Grieg's "The Scream" comes to my mind.

Then I think about how I will end it all.

I could NOT stand four more years of Rethuglican corrupt cabal regime rule.

I WOULD HAVE TO END IT ALL!!
