Why are Google ads with Coulter up on this site?

If I'm correct on how the Google Ad Words program works, it looks for keywords and matches up ads that way. But does DU need to make money off sales of Coulter's books with Google ads on threads about her? To the mods: Can't you filter out Coulter and other cons so the ads don't reflect them?

If they get too onorous, one can turn them off. I think they're funny as hell, sometimes.

If everyone started out their subject line with SEX or FLOWERS, we'd probably get ads for porn sites and florists!

It will cost the RWers selling those ads money to Google and to DU. If we could press each ad 1 million times a day each, they would be out of business and DU wouldn't have to have any fund drives for years to come!!!!!

Depending on how much they're paying per click, I doubt they'd be out of business, but it'd be funny to see them have to pay out that money (and which DU earns from the clicks from the ads on its site). Better not to mention her, though. The more she's mentioned, the more buzz from the twit's book.

picks up on that fact. Google uses a combination of keywords and content to display ads. The more people use her name, the more the ads will show up.

It's really simple... don't talk about her, don't type her name, and the ads go away.

You ask if DU needs to make money off it; I say if it does (which I'm not sure of), then good. Let Coulter's marketing team waste money on putting ads in front of people who won't buy her book and give it to the message board where people are fighting what she stands for.
