Just rocking and remembering...
Edited on Fri Jun-16-06 12:12 AM by anotheryellowdog
Many years ago I recall a concert in Houston when Chuck Berry performed. My brother Mike and I were at that concert. We got right up to the stage - within two feet of Chuck Berry. He was hard on that guitar - "Sweet Little Sixteen," totally absorbed but he saw us. We held out to him the joint we were smoking. He didn't take it of course. He was "on the job." He gave us a smile and moved away. - What a performer, though! He was great, and we got it. I am listening to Chuck's "Sweet Little Sixteen" as I type this. Here's to you, Chuck and to Mike who is dead now, but just like this jam his spirit lives.

1. Was that at Hoffheinz Pavillion?
Chuck didn't play much around Houston.

2. Seems to me now it was at the Dome,
but now I think of it, it was more likely at Hofheinz. It was so long ago it's hard to remember. It could even have been at once was known as "The Music Hall." Chuck certainly warranted that fine venue. Correct my memory if I'm wrong.

3. I had forgotten about The Music Hall
Holy Heck, I caught some great music there.

Walking thru that great big entry.

Suddenly, I feel awfully creaky.

5. I caught Lowell George's (Little Feat) last gig there..
New Years Eve (I've forgotten the year).

Saw James Taylor, Emmylou Harris, and the Band on the same bill, one night.

We were looking for the Quaaludes we had lost under the seats.

Good God-all-mighty, Houston was happening back then.

6. Yes, the Big H used to rock back then.
I wish you had found the the Quaaludes, or I wish I had.

Best Wishes,
