Its official - CSPAN is no better than CNN
In advance of the war debate, CSPAN is a Republican mouthpeice today. Besides the mouth-breathing callers who are allowed to present their neanderthal ideas, I am shocked to see pro-war quotes sharing a split screen with our hostess.

This is sad.

1. We have had several Dems who have done a good job presenting our side
I think we have had a pretty good day getting our side out as well. I don't think too many neophytes call or watch Washington Journal anyway.

2. I agree with you.

(Edit to correct spelling.)

C-Span has been alternating between Dems, Pigs, and independants.
They don't pre-screen the calls at c-span, as far as I know.
I think some pigs are calling in on the independant lines though...
The pigs are really showing themselves up as complete morons!

10. I heard the woman reading
that letter and I had similar thoughts as you.
It seemed contrived with the quiver in her voice and they gave her more time than other callers, it seemed.
Sen. Hunter ( R ) following right behind her seemed like a set-up, I admit.

11. Yes, I heard it also and I agree with you that the whole
situation seemed made up.

The letter from the soldier really didn't say too much of anything IMO.

If the soldiers really feel that they are doing the right thing in being over there and fighting Bush's illegal war then I say that I no longer support them. Why bother if they are happy doing what they are doing? More power to them but I will not worry about their health and safety anymore.

5. You just noticed?
Gee, I gave up on c-span when they altered (edited - in real-time) the video feed of the 2004 inauguration, when Bush rode through the protest zone, c-span showed footage from earlier in the motorcade. I caught them again during the Gonzo-ass Hearing... right when Kennedy was getting testy, Alberto sat in his inhuman stillness, got very pixel-ated around the edges as the cpu bogged down while his image and response was almost seamlessly replaced with a prerecorded answer. After that, Kennedy's heated voice track was off by a few milliseconds and there was a serious incongruity in the semantics of the exchange. It's all dis-info.

6. Ever notice how angy the host gets when a caller points out
C-Span's partisanship?

8. C-SPAN Is Corporate Owned
It's a wolf in sheep's clothing. This network was set up by the major communications and cable operators in the 70s and 80s as a means to bypass FCC rules and use it to give cover to local systems in their never ending battle to get more deregulation and profits. It fulfilled public service requirements for the local system and for the most part was a benign service by not providing any real commentary on their programming.

The part of C-SPAN where the Repugnican spin has always come through is Washington Journal...Brian Lamb's little early morning treehouse. For years it was ignored by media and viewers but Lamb paraded many of the right wing stars of today...giving them the much needed video time. All the co-hosts are GOOP suits as well and it's through this filter one must view the show.

Lamb keeps his cushy gig by catering to the powers and big money in town that helped him set up a media empire and he does whatever he needs to to stay in their good graces.
