Katherine Harris loses her fourth chief of staff

Katherine Harris' chief of staff for the past year, Fred Asbell, has resigned from his duties in the congresswoman's office to pursue business opportunities. Recent headlines have placed the departure of Asbell, who was Harris' fourth chief of staff since she was elected to Congress in 2002, in the context of a congressional office and Senate campaign that have been hemorrhaging staff members since late last year. But Harris' congressional spokesman, Gerry Fritz, said Monday that Asbell's decision to leave has no connection with a congressional office that has shown high turnover levels, or a fumbling Senate campaign.

In fact, whether Harris comes from far behind to beat Democratic incumbent Bill Nelson, the doors in the congressional office in Washington will close come January. Current staff members only have about another six months of guaranteed employment.

Fritz said he's not worried that his current job has a time limit because Harris will be in the U.S. Senate, and he, with about 10 years of experience in that chamber, will be right there with her. :rofl:
