Rasmussen finds no bounce (yet) for Bush
Today Rasmussen has a new poll out showing Bush with a 39% approval rating (remember Ras has always had Bush higher than any other poll, so if there was any big bounce I figured they would show it)--this poll includes 2/3 of interviews done after the death of Zarqawi. Yesterday Bush was at 40% in his poll. Ras concedes that "there is no immedidate bounce." He even says "consumer confidence has slipped."

1. Most people in this country had no idea who Zarqawi even was.
Those that do either already think the Iraq War was a disaster or are deluded into thinking that it truly is some great battle against Al-Qaeda.

4. I think this will halt the decline in Bush's numbers...for awhile
That's the bounce: that he won't slip in the polls anymore. For awhile. Until he fucks something else up.

6. No bounce?
Don't expect one. The Zarkawi thing is just propaganda, for domestic consumption.

As Bush continues his long slide, Zarkawi was just a passing buoy.
