It's SO EASY, ..but no, the Democrats choose to surrender instead of fight
Edited on Fri Jun-09-06 11:08 PM by LaPera
This is from bartcop.com and I think the Dem's need to say the truth...and be aggressive, the media sure as hell is NOT going give the Dem's a break or report the truth.

Check out an excellent book....
Being Right Is Not Enough - What Progressives Can Learn From Conservative Success
---by Paul Waldman (Media Matters.org)

"Perhaps Ann Coulter's book should have been called 'Heartless.'
I know a lot of the widows and family members who lost loved ones on 9/11. They never wanted to be a member of a group that is defined by the tragedy of what happened."

-- the junior senator from New York

"We have been slandered. Contrary to Ms. Coulter's statements, there was no joy in watching men who we loved burn alive. There was no happiness in telling our children that their fathers were never coming home again. We adored these men and miss them every day..."
-- Kristen Breitweiser, Lorie Van Auken, Mindy Kleinberg and Patty Casazza,

I said many years ago that this kind of shit would be f-ing EASY to stop, if they listened to me.

All the Democrats have to do is say, "Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh and Michael Savage speak for the President and the Republican Party and their remarks are shameful and hurtful and they drive America apart at a time when we should be coming together."

What would this accomplish?

It would force Bush and others to say, "Coulter, Limbaugh and Savage DO NOT speak for us, and we agree their remarks ARE shameful, hurtful and divisive and we apologize for them."

And that would turn Coulter, the Pigboy and Savage against the GOP. It would also force O'Reilly, Hannity and every Rush clone to take a side.

It would be hate radio against the GOP and we could sit back and watch
as the Republicans dissolved into a costly, bloody civil war.

It's SO EASY, ...but no, the Democrats have no idea how to win a debate.

It's SO EASY, ...but no, the Democrats choose to surrender instead of fight.

12. If they would also just walk out on occassion...
Like they all should have left when Delay gave his speech...

Then they coverage would have been about democratic solidarity and not Delays last shots at the dems....

Newt did this shit back when he was trying to take over the House...

3. k & r
It's good that Clinton et. al. responded, but I thought the response was rather anemic given the sheer vileness of annie's comments.

TAR the GOP with this b**** I say!

4. Yep!
What the Dems have been doing since the coup.

Makes me sick.

I was yelling at the TV during the 2000 "debates", especially, being a Texan who knew Bush's record, and knowing that Al Gore is a brilliant, thoughtful man.

But the points are never made.

Big kudos to Al for speaking out now, though. Better late than never. You should forward this idea to Howard; he might just say it.

5. Bart has had the winning strategies all along.
Also, "heartless" was the word that came up most often on forums that I read today. She's a heartless bitch.

But Bart should be hoisted to high places. I am disappointed when I see someone with his incredible common sense, with less than a very large audience. He's so good I don't even spend time on his website anymore. It's almost too painful to see someone spell it all out so perfectly.

Coulter isn't even worth our attention. She's so obviously foul, even republicans can't stomach her.

14. So Why Wasn't BartCop Invited To The Daily Kos Convention??
I agree that BartCop has been miles ahead of the Democratic leadership for years. Had either Gore or Kerry listened to him, things would have turned out differently.

I also agree that his site is not only 'leading edge' but also extremely entertaining. And he has been at it longer than anyone else on the Internet, too. Over 10 years. BartCop was doing his page when Kos was still too young to drive. (really) And he has been giving the Democrats good advice that they've been ignoring all that whole time. He has also coined about half the terms that are now standard blogspeech; 'media whore', for example.

So I can't figure why the newly annointed champions of the liberal blogosphere ignored him when they were inviting bloggers to attend the ongoing Daily Kos convention in Vegas.

Is it because Bart is located out in Oklahoma -- not inside the beltway--that the organizers of the first liberal blogger convention left him uninvited and not on the agenda?

Whatever the reason, it isn't good enough. Somebody screwed up.

15. Was he not invited?
I haven't been on Bartcop in some time.

Also, Bart may not meet the requirement of "blogger". Even so, I think of him as the common sense man of politics. Oh how I wish he had a bigger audience. He could be so valuable as an advisor, like you mentioned.

Sigh.

6. The problem is it is a LOGICAL solution... it should work.. it could.
It isn't a sure thing though. Still it's worth a shot.

Just don't be surprised if they come up with yet another way to whitewash her and their actions and blame the 911 victims for not being "godley" enough.

9. I expect the Dem Party to fight somewhat, but not fight hard like that
Too many Democrats in the party are taking the kind of special interest money that Republicans thrive on. Republicans grow strong on it, but for Democrats, it is like Superman being exposed to Kryptonite. It weakens him. I am not saying somebody who accepts a small number of corporate donations is corrupt, but what I am saying is if more than a quarter of your campaign cash is coming from corporate financiers...

...Then I feel I have a right to question your ability to make sound judgments with respect to the regulation of these corporations and the setting of policy without being overly influenced by the business elements you are supposed to guard the people against.

10. Democrats had the opportunity..will we have it again?
Republicans now have the opportunity to provide universal healthcare, cut government waste, put term limits in place, reduce the national debt, stop military deployments lacking any exit strategy, and keep the standards just as high on Republicans now in power previously used for incumbent Democrats.

Republicans have the rare opportunity to make themselves legendary. Democrats now have the job of holding Republicans responsible for failing to govern. Republicans have the more difficult role and Democrats have the more achievable one. Will either party acomplish its role?

13. Totally. So: They haven't done this because
they are already sold.

So: what alternatives remain to us?

I'm not giving up; I'm just saying: it's abundantly clear, our representatives don't represent us. So let's take that as given; now what?
