When Bush lied about Treasury Secretary John Snow's plans to leave his post, Bush apologist Tony Snow said the following:

"Well no — with all due respect, I think there was some concern again about how something like that affects the markets. If you have uncertainty for an extended period of time, which would have been, at that point, four or five days, I think that is something that you’ve got to worry about and you’ve got to be responsible in dealing with it."

Bullshit. We convict CEOs and corporate officers for lying to falsly inflate their stock price. Where is the difference?

When stocks go up *or* down, someone makes money. Bush lied to the direct financial benefit of himself and his cronies who hold particularly large amounts of stock.
